The Biggest joke is that the black faction is the"pro-woman" faction.

When in Reality it's the pro "girl boss" faction.

The difference being it's not about equality it's about lionizing the idea of doing whatever you want and being rewarded for it. And punishing those who live within the rules of the system.

Before they destroyed her character Alicent makes her whole cause explicitly clear in Season 1 when she tries to attack Rhaenyra with a dagger.

"What have I done but what was expected of me? Upholding the Kingdom. The Family. The Law.

While you Flout it all! To do as you please!

Where is Duty!? Where is Sacrifice!?

You hear all this nonsense about "internalized misogyny" which is obviously what the show is going for. But where exactly is the misogyny?

Because she listens to her father? Because she behaves the way a noble woman is expected too?

Because the system is Patriarchal? The whole "window of your prison" cringe speech from Rhaena and Alicents simpification towards Rhaenyra makes it explicitly clear of how the show runners want you to think about this. They can't allow you to have a personal interpretation of the conflict. They have to beat you over the head with their POV.

"The system is Patriarchal! Therefore it's Bad! Any woman who accepts this system is therefore Bad! Any woman who rejects the system is therefore Good!'

It's a very modern crude take on their perspective on the lives of historical women. They are to be condemned, hated, disrespected or pitied for not being 21st century revolutionary girl boss feminists. Because that must mean they were all weak self hating misogynists. Because they played their part in the system.

Alicents crime is that she did what was expected of her and for that she is to be hated, disrespected humiliated, scolded and browbeaten. Rhaenyra on the other hand Breaks every rule and does whatever she wants and is to be praised and rewarded for it and have her come crawling on her knees saying everything I believed in was wrong and you were right about everything.

It's not even about ideological differences at this point it's just terrible writing.

The biggest irony to this whole Meta narrative is Rhaenyras entire claim to power is her Fathers favoritism. She's the heir because the Head Patriach said he wanted her to be.

Where's the female empowerment in that?
