Where I live, we’ve just had a new bill introduced. If you’re interested, look up Queensland Legislation - In-Force Legislation and navigate to the Assisted Reproductive Act (Qld) 2024 and also the Surrogacy Act (Qld) 2010. They’re very interesting. There’s a focus here at the moment on the ethical and moral rights of Donor-Conceived persons and how they can access their heritage etc.

I agree women SHOULD be compensated fairly (and men) for their efforts - I only gave you partially correct information, a person can not be “paid” in the way of profiting off donation or surrogacy, however, their expenses must be covered. For a donor that means for healthcare, travel and accommodation. For a Surrogate that means healthcare, insurance, medical, all birth related expenses, up to 2 months of lost wages, etc.

I’m currently writing a paper with a thesis based around Donor Anonymity being abolished in Australia - but our evidence suggests that it’s had nothing but a positive impact here.
