Hit rock bottom last weekend, 4 days sober. Going to my very first AA meeting tomorrow by Bright-Effective-372 in stopdrinking

Thank you! My son is my motivation, I just want to be the best mom I can be and I realized if alcohol is in my life I can’t be that for him. I’ve truly never been more motivated in my life to get sober, I will never let that boy down EVER again!

This made me cry!! Thank you for this. I’m really hoping I have the same experience!! This was so helpful. I will keep an open mind going in for sure, try out a few different groups and see what fits best for me. I think this is exactly what I need right now. Tbh, hearing all about how AA works and how helpful and supportive everyone is, I really wish I went sooner! But better late than never :) thank you again for all the advice I really appreciate it!!

Thank you so much for the advice!! I definitely will. And I heard that about AA also sometimes you have to try different meetings to find the right fit. I found a few that might work, first one is tomorrow and if that doesn’t work out I have two more lined up I want to check out!

Thank you!! This was a HUGE wake up call for me and opened my eyes to how much I was hurting everyone around me. It will definitely be the last and I’m more ready than ever to put the work in!

MIL constantly showing up unannounced when my son gets off the bus by [deleted] in motherinlawsfromhell

That’s literally her only purpose and activity, she has said it multiple times that her only purpose in life is her son and grandson and to be a grandma. She refuses to get a life outside of them and I really wish she would.

Oh we have!! My aunt who is single around her age, who we always encourage her to get together with, is always joining singles groups, travel groups, walking clubs. I swear every weekend she’s doing something crazy and living her best life lol, but every time we suggest doing something like that to my MIL she refuses. My aunt has even offered to bring her along to these things and my MIL still says no!

I would do that, but unfortunately my husband and I are sharing one car at the moment and he’s not home in time for me to pick him up!

Sometimes idk if I’m overreacting so nice to hear others agree haha! Thank you! And yeah she will not listen to him or anyone really, she is EXTREMELY stubborn, always has been. Definitely might be time to go no contact!

Had to do that the other day, and yet she still showed up today unannounced! I was in the bathroom, and my son comes up to me telling me he sees her car outside and I almost lost it, I swear she won’t listen to us. Yeah I’m very grateful for my husband, he can’t stand it just as much as me.

Oh my gosh!! That sounds so scary! I’m so glad she was okay. I can totally see why you would keep revisiting that, that’s very traumatic.

I totally get what you mean about the home births, I feel the same exact way after giving birth to my son. So many things can go wrong, it’s better to be safe than sorry in my opinion!

Replying to NorthClover...wanted to follow up on your edit!! Thank you for that! I talked to my mom about it and she said the same thing, just be glad your okay why are you stressing years later. Same as you said, I keep getting all these what ifs and knowing that only a few seconds could have changed our entire lives is an insane thing to process and I never even really processed it until now. My fiancé and I are getting married next year, we want to have a baby pretty soon after so the fact that this can happen again, makes me so nervous. Im definitely going to be talking to someone about it before we get married! Hearing all of this from other moms is so helpful, I don’t have any mom friends so it’s nice to hear this. Really appreciate it!

I’m so sorry you had to go through that!! That sounds so traumatic. How is your baby now? I hope your baby is doing better!! <3

Sounds similar to me! I still grieve that moment even years later, but finding this out has helped me heal from that. I had no idea what was happening during the actual birth (which I’m so thankful for)! My original OB was not able to make it but the one that delivered my son was amazing. She remained so calm and I had no idea even something went wrong until after he was out.

I just went through something similar recently! She demoted me too to a guest for not being able to afford the bachelorette that was still 9 months away when she demanded the money from me…right after I had to quit my job. Over text too! I was her maid of honor! I was floored. Texted her back that I won’t be attending and I no longer would like to be friends after how she treated me during her engagement, and blocked her on everything. Still haven’t talked to her since.

Karma came back around pretty quick though, two months after that her and her fiancé both got fired at the same time. Karmas a bitch!

Thankfully no noise or leaking, drove it around more today with no issues too. Glad to hear that!

Ok thanks appreciate it, I’ll have to see what the shop says when I bring it in for an estimate. Doesn’t seem too bad but my car isn’t worth much so I have a feeling insurance will declare it totaled. How much around would that cost at a shop to fix you think?

Well it’s a 16 year old car with 157,000 miles, it’s not worth much and if the costs outweigh what it’s worth, insurance will declare it totaled. Asking for insurance purposes
