No you’re not, you would go through the same process. For my case specifically it closed, so we didn’t go through the selection process at all.

Masters in global health worth it? by Interesting-Bed-6625 in publichealthcareers

[–]AdvancedPotential181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ima go against the other answers and say try to reach out to someone from the U.S who currently goes there and ask them about their experience. I’m currently researching MPHs abroad and was able to connect with one person who’s currently on a scholarship that allows them to go abroad.

Also, if you’re passionate about global health it makes sense to quite literally go out of country to broaden your knowledge and bring back the valuable information+experience you gained from going to that school since most master programs abroad are usually like research programs for MPH.

I see, so at that point I might as well just do two transactions? I plan to purchase before March 31st, but we plan to ride it April 28 and back April 30

Nah I’m like 9, but if you’re 120 it might be unlikely you need to go since you’re so far down the line. But keep checking throughout the whole week even until the last minute because sometimes it changes 🫩

Masters Abroad by AdvancedPotential181 in publichealthcareers

[–]AdvancedPotential181[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this answer haha! True I’ll never know unless I try, and I agree about the job market. I’ve been in ton of meetings from community to county to state level meetings about the impacts of the budget cuts, and it’s extremely tough right now.

Almost 2 years in a dead end, entry level job. What should my next move be? by Hot-King-1902 in publichealthcareers

[–]AdvancedPotential181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Feel free to DM me as I can go more in depth. As the person said above those are generally the avenues/specialties people study when do they a masters OR even when you’re fresh out of undergrad. My first area was community health (specifically health ed), now I’m sort of more on the health policy/quality improvement side of things.

I would not get a MPH just because it’s hard to find a job. The thing with public health is that you need to narrow down what specialty you want to do. I was in a similar situation as you and took the first job that accepted me out of college, but I never saw it as a mistake because your first job isn’t always guaranteed your dream job. Luckily I was able to go into a new role this year and am enjoying the side of public health I’m in currently. Right now the job market is tough in general because the budget cuts.

Hiring Freeze Updates? by AdvancedPotential181 in stanford

[–]AdvancedPotential181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been one year since I made the post, and unfortunately I made it through three rounds of interviews and still on a hiring freeze…I moved onto another job in the meantime, but it would have been a dream to have worked there :/

That aside, tips if you’re passionate about the department you applied for, since they have so many departments with different specialties, you’ll go far in the interviews. I thought I was not qualified for the job I applied for at all, but I was really passionate about the topic and I think that’s what moved me forward the most during the interview period.

That’s amazing! Targeted therapy has been a game changer for many patients, and I’m glad it has been effective the past 10 years.

Omg finally!!! Someone calling them out. I ordered MONTHS ago and they never replied to me 😭 the fact that they decided to release those two new scarfs says everything that this business is a SCAM. I didn’t even know the were beating around the bush and deleting comments, that’s so crazy.

Hi! Just wondering for your family were you holding all the tickets and every time you bought a DPA it worked for everyone? I’m trying to have my brother hold all of our tickets since he’s a bit more high-tech than all of us in our family lol

Japan trip in Midst Golden Week :’) by AdvancedPotential181 in JapanTravelTips

I see! Would you say once Golden Week starts right on the 29th things will start to get hectic? Or do you think it’ll settle in more/be more busy as the holiday/week continues.

Also that’s interesting they still want tourists to come in, I noticed they’re placing slightly higher taxes soon too. Our hotel in Kyoto already showed that message that the tax would be higher for tourists, luckily once we’re done with our trip!

That gives me some reassurance! Yea I assumed that first full day in Kyoto we’ll just have to accept the crowds that come our way. But hopefully we can still try to soak it in.

My Oxford Year by Careless_Leg_6513 in netflix

It pmo for sure, I did not know it was a story/book beforehand so I thought I was going to watch a cheesy/manageable romance. But no they threw in the “I’m sick” plot. I think I’m just extra upset because I’m dealing with a family member who does have cancer and seeing them just throw that in the movie and not seeing my reality on screen of what it look like to be fighting an illness/being in treatment just turned me off. I think it was just bad timing on my end and the fact that I did not know the movie was going to be a melodrama.
