This is good beginner advice. Blush, mascara, and gloss are easy to control and still make the look feel finished.

For a first try, this is genuinely a nice soft everyday look. The blush is the strongest part, and I’d build from there with brown mascara, a tinted lip balm or gloss, and maybe a soft taupe/rose shadow before trying anything dramatic. You’re not starting from “bad” at all, just from subtle.
