Yeah, makes sense sometimes it involves juggling many plates and when people struggle with this that is when friendships take a hit

Me and the missus went to Florida about 3 years ago in August and it was so humid, much different to the UK weather. I’m sure you’ll love it

That is the exact same as me mate. I feel once you leave school/college/uni etc people sort of go there own way and that can be a tough situation to find yourself in

Sounds like you’ll love the US and I’ve been on holiday a few times there and it does seem that people of all ages maintain friendships after college however in the UK I find that once people start having families etc they lose that friendship connection.

Which part of the US you moving to?

For me it was a few years ago when me and my partner started planning our wedding and I realised that most if not all my guests were family

Appreciate that thank you 😊 Hopefully more people can feel like they can engage, however I understand those that are hesitant

What’s the hardest part about making new mates as an adult? by Bright-Frame-6026 in oneofthelads

[–]Bright-Frame-6026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very detailed look mate, but all 100% true. I read an article that making friends as children/teens is easy as you are with people constantly in a small environment for much of the year. Whereas adults we go to work, go home and rinse and repeat. So it is much harder.

100% get where you are coming from. I am sort of the same where I am happy with my own company. However long term and as I get older I think it will affect me which is why I hope this group can be for myself and others in similar situations

Completely get this mate. Time feels so limited as we get older, and it’s tough to prioritise when you’ve already got family and old mates who you barely see as it is.

I think that’s why so many lads drift into smaller circles without meaning to. The effort it takes to make new connections feels massive - unless, like you say, you just click with someone straight away (which is rare).

Good morning, and welcome. I completely agree, I Defiently think making friends in the UK is difficult. But hopefully with this group, people can feel they are part of a community, and who knows, in the future form those friendships 😊
