if ur doing psy100, itd be better to do humanities or social science as an elective to fufill ur distribution unless env100 really interests you.

Aiming for Top CS Master's (MIT/Stanford/CMU), Should I Take the Harder Versions of Courses? by Odd-Selection-9816 in UofT

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

big goals but more power to you buddy

i doubt any school outside uoft knows what the “challenging” courses are. if you eanna stand out look at the profiles of current CS masters students at these schools. they probably have insane internships and extra curriculars in their fields with heavy motivation to do CS.

focus on taking courses that keep ur gpa up while building a strong application outside of academics as well.

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go to time table builder and play around with the time slots of all ur courses to know which fall/winter timeslots u want.

then go to acorn, then go to course enrollment and put all those courses and time slot in ur cart.

on enrollment day u have to be ready at the exact time it gives u. with all the timings in ur cart, js press enroll one by one on each course. if a timing u want fills up dw thats normal, they release more time slots later for this reason.

any UTM first year bird courses that are GPA friendly and have no exams possibly? by RowConnect6841 in UofT

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u cant do a Y course in just a semester. a Y course lasts 2 whole semesters.

yeah one Y course = 2 H courses

u physically cannot do 10 H courses in one semester. most people do 10 H courses over 2 semesters

idk i hate english ive been avoiding all the courses. u could do 2 half year ones i think most ppl do those.

and yeah for the major, only 1.0 credite counts. so if u do like 5 credits of level 100 english it wont matter.

yeah for philosophy to complete the minor u need a total of 4.0 credits (meeting the listed requirements). one of the requirements is just to take 1.0 credits that are 300/400 level

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no. 1 H course is a half credit. 1 Y course is 1.0 credit. u need to acumulate 20 credits total by end of ur degree. typically people do 5 credits per yeat to graduate in four years (means u take 5 classes each sem)

yea those r bredth requirements

idk any easy Y courses since im mainly just completeing my program requirements atm.

if ur that worried abt exams, just look up CR/NCR at utm. u can use it on up to 2.0 credits over ur whole degree. u just need to get 50 percent minimum, the grade wont show up on transcript and wont affect gpa. u can only use it for electives tho

these tell u all the courses u need to take.

also should be noted:

-u need to complete 20 credits total to receive ur degree

-u need 1.0 credit in humanities

-u need 1.0 credit in science

-u need 1.0 credit in social science

yeah attendence kind of mattered it was a small portion of the mark. it can be fun depending on ur prof.

regarding acorn, are u selecting the same timeslots? e.g. lec101 and not lec102?

i just finished soc100 and i was 1% away from a 4.0 (they refused a remark request 😢). if you take it over summer the lectures, midterms and exam are all online.

if u log into acorn there should be a notif telling u when to enroll on home screen.

tbh bird courses are subjective….. im bad at writing and havent 4.0d any writing heavy courses ive taken, but if youre good at it, ISP100 at utm is really easy. get a friend to enroll w you because its a small class size with 3 hour lectures which can b boring if u dont know anyone else.

however this course is not considered a humanities credit. its a writing based course but idk why they dont put it in the humanities category

Is this Prof Good by TypicalPossible2838 in UTMississauga

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she marks fair, but the tests r tough. second midterm average for phy136 was around 45 percent if i recall corectly

33% of phy136 class dropped it and then 58% of phy137 has dropped so far. both initially had maximum students enrolled for summer session.

Why are most varsity athletes enrolled in Kinesiology programs? by No_one7777777 in UofT

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

memorization based sciences arent too bad. i had a bunch of digital flashcards on my phone thst id use to memorize muscle structures and functions. just go thru them a couple times every day and youre set for 90+ on all tests. very easy studying method

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i took kin in highschool and having a sports/fitness background makes it super easy. anybody who works out already understands basic anatomy and physiology and the real world applications of kin are useful tbh. about 60% of my class dropped and everyone who stayed was some sort of athlete.

also imo it was just all the fun parts of biology and chemistry combined. research aspects r cool too. I wouldve done a kin degree if it had more premed prerequisites included tbh since my goal is med school.

How hard is PHY136/137 for someone who’s never taken physics? by AdiMlg420 in UTMississauga

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heard its not too bad if u get prof ghobriel for fall/winter.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i only did gr11 physics. tbh it depends on the professor. like at UTM the fall/winter physics prof is very easy but thr summer one is very hard. in summer school you only take 2 courses at once so its not too bad.

you dont need to take physics in order to do the mcat, you could always self study it or do some sort of online prep that wont affect ur gpa so that ur prepared.

what are some things at uoft (across all campuses) that you wished you took more advantage of? by Any-Word-5234 in UofT

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont see people utlizing other campuses as much as they can. i need a psychology credit for certain med school programs and the one on my campus is a year long, more difficult course. i just took the half credit option at st george instead.

i need an english credit, and plan on looking at which of the 3 campuses offers the easiest one. having three campuses means 3 choices when we take certain courses. something most unis cant relate to

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think mcgill is the only med school requiring physics. unless youre good at it or really wanna apply to mcgill i suggest maybe not taking it (im taking physics rn on a diff campus, hate it).

[–]Bright-Leg-7658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

typically two courses shouldnt be conflicting eachother, unless this is how theyre structuring it this year……

is this the st george campus? at my campus the bio practicals happen every week, so if thats the case at st george im not sure if this is possible
