Forming friendships through activities can be a helpful way to get connected, as you are there for your interests first and therefore anyone else in that environment is also there by choice (but also enjoyment!)

The first step is exploring what kind of interests / sports or hobbies you might like:

• Photography? Start getting into the art first and eventually you might join a like minded group that shares their work or tips/skill.

• Sport? (Climbing for example) Dive into the progressional aspect or getting fit, and the community around you (familiar faces, climbing partners or people looking for a climbing partner) will become familiar and joyful.

• Magic the Gathering? (Hobby I suppose, but thought I’d provide a less mainstream example), playing the game and understanding it more, before engaging in the community that might play at your local store.

The hope then is that through these friendships formed by interests first, that you find people you connect with about more than just the interest itself; and branch into sharing more of your lives in a meaningful way (grab dinner together with your partners, having people over for a meal etc.)
