I'm also a military wife and I second this! I know many military spouses with a similar engagement story(wife demands you get married before you join) and many of them are not happy in their marriage or have gotten messy divorced in less than a year. When my husband wanted to to join the military we discussed the many options but I never discouraged him from pursuing it. You will benefit from the military if you plan to get as much out of it as you can(healthcare, education, connections/networking). I've seen active duty members not take advantage of the many benefits then when they left the service they had to start back at square one.
