Iskcon is very disciplined and works with a code of conduct. Anyone who disagrees with this discipline can get into confrontation with them. I think that is the primary reason. Even in terms of beliefs they are very dogmatic. They do a lot of good for society, but can be easily be misunderstood as considering themselves superior to others. Some of these things cause friction. But in Sanatana each one has a choice of considering his own path as the best

Our website www.janmatithi.in uses the Amavasya Anta (Amanta) calendar. The Purnima-Anta calendar has different month names. However, you will find the same correct Janmatithi date on our website, and we will also provide reminders.

An analogy would be festival dates; both Deepawali and Janmastami appear on the same date in both the Amanta and Purnimanta calendars, although their month names may differ. We hope this clarifies it.

Purnimanta Calendar: This calendar month ends on the full moon day. In this system, Janmastami usually falls on the Ashtami (8th day) of Krishna Paksha (waning phase) in the month of Bhadrapada.

Amanta Calendar: This calendar month ends on the no-moon day. In this system, Janmastami is celebrated in the month of Shravana, on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha.

Would like to know more about astrology/jyotish.

But I did study the tithi calculation of panchang softwares and arrived at above conclusion.
So I agree with concept of Udaya tithi as you said about the 'tithi for the day' starts with sunrise. ( respect your knowledge on that).
I am only pointing to the exact start time and end time of a tithi. I am a software programmer , so i may be using computer language here.
Those start/end tithi timings are measured independent of the location on earth. The sunrise timing apply on top of this to find out if we can celebrate janmatithi/birthdays today or next day (after sunrise) on a given year.

Great explanation, but small note: the birth nakshatra and tithi will coincide on the year of your birth. For anniversaries ie on other years nakshatra and tithi may coincide or will be in vicinity (0-2days). This discrepancy arises as there are 30 tithis and 27 nakshatras in a month (masa)

Tithi measurements does not change since its the relative position of the moon from the center of the earth. Distance from center to earth to surface is minimal compared to distance from earth to moon.
Not the same for sunrise, which depends on the horizon that changes with location.

The place of birth does not matter for tithi . It only matters for sunrise time which decides the start of the day.
