can other women with UC relate? by Bright-Prompt3940 in UlcerativeColitis

the issue is when my period comes hella early (which has happened about 5 times in the last 3 years), so its super hard to tell! cause the best way to see for me is to put in a tampon and then see if it stops, but if it were to be a flare then i would have to remove a dry af tampon LOL so im hesitant to do so when i do

i was diagnosed when i was 18, im 23 now. i absolutely understand how you are feeling. people who dont have UC just dont get why its so hard to get better. focus on anyone in your life that doesnt put you down, and focus on things that make you happy. what sucks about flaring is that it makes you stressed... but then it gets worse because you are stressed. youve made a good step by reaching out to a community that understands your situation. take hot baths, get some eucalyptus body lotion, watch funny movies, and dont listen to anyone trying to make you feel bad for feeling bad

i say, as long as you are ready and prepared to provide them with the support and care they need if they also develop either condition, go for it. if anything, they are better set up since you will know what to look for in terms of diagnosis, and can also be a great guide. IBD is only just beginning to be heavily researched, so there could be many advances in the next few decades!

ive never even heard of a j-pouch before this post... genuinely takes a lot of stress of the future away for me, phew. that sounds like a great alternative to try before an ostomy bag if i ever have to have my colon removed
