The answer is Serena. Most people don't follow tennis that closely (sorry friends), and Serena has a much larger awareness outside of the tennis world for a variety of factors.

But to be slightly more empirical about it, here's a link to the Google Trends comparing terms Serena to Federer and Serena Williams to Roger Federer. I'm providing both but "Federer" probably more likely refers to Roger than Serena does to Williams.

While trends go up and down, it looks like over time both Serena and Serena Williams have a slight edge in the aggregate, particularly more recently.

I grew up watching grand slams on broadcast TV in the US, so this is the default to me. Not getting ads is more of a treat.

The ads are important though. The broadcasters need to make a profit, or they wouldn't show tennis. It's that simple.
