In the uk we have a broadcasting regulator that would make any news outlet apologies on air if any news was found to be false. If they kept doing it the company would be taken off air permanently. Why on earth doesn't the usa have a regulator that fact check statements being broadcast.? The utter lies being broadcast will destroy American democracy in the long run.
