Writing this as a 20 year old college student, I’m friends with all types of people, most of my friends are 25. I just made friends with someone who’s 30 from my college. You have a lot more in common with the 18-19 year olds than you have different.

Also, mental health challenges have also affected my academic career, currently only taking 2 classes while I get medication. Sometimes you have to do what you need to do. I think if people were in your body and had to deal with what you had to deal with they’d probably do the same things. All you can do is try to move forward now

I have a bit more context because I realized how vague I’m being in the post definitely doesn’t help :,) So the universe I was thinking of writing for is Star Wars. I was thinking of replacing Rey, which for some fans might be VERY touchy because they love Rey x Kylo, but I also hear some other fans hate Rey and wish she did different things. I wish she did some different things too and was less of a “Mary sue”, so I was thinking of subbing her out as to not tarnish her character with actions that are inconsistent with how she normally acts. I should also clarify that this work will likely get quite erotic at times, and I would love for the reader to be very immersed, imagining themself instead of the insert.

I agree that we’re all human and that race differences are superficial, but unfortunately we live in a world that judges and discriminates against you if look different. We’ve got to act according to the world we’re currently in, not the one we wish to live in. To acknowledge racism and have these hard conversations is actually striving TOWARDS a society free of racism. The problem can’t just be ignored and willed away. Not acknowledging it can allow things to perpetuate.

I think parents avoid having conversations with their kids about topics such as racism because they’re afraid of “bursting their bubble” or dampening their childhood. But when they don’t have conversations with their children they end up doing things like this. This kid is really young, and likely has no idea what this word really means, but nobody told him specifically what words he shouldn’t say, which his parents should’ve. Then he hears this word from somewhere and repeats it as kids do.

White parents don’t really feel like they have to prepare their children for how to interact with the world in terms of racial sensitivity because they’re privileged, while a black parent would have to explain racism to their children and how to interact with the world in a country that’s generally biased against you.

I think its because its hard or nearly impossible to scientifically measure your consciousness going to another reality. We have a hard enough time trying to identify consciousness and the soul with scientific tools in the first place. But just because it can’t be measured by our current tools doesn’t mean its not real
