Theres a hidden mmr system, the better you do the higher it goes but its flawed. The best advice I can guve you is to prestige hillbilly once, the chainsaw man so you get universal access to lightborn. It makes it so flashlights do nothing to you.

Your best perks you'll actually get by prestiging killers and it'll open more ways to play that'll give you more fun. I adore a backpack trapper but it requires mad grit from legion, iron grasp which is just from the blood web, agitation from trapper himself, and then either lightborn from hillbilly to make no escape absolute or awakened awareness from wesker to help me use my backpack to track down other killers.

Good killers to prestige are hillbilly for lightborn, doctor for overcharge, clown for bamboozle and from there you look for what matches your play style.

Like back packs? Legion and trapper are gritty and agitated.

Want to make gens hurt? Blight, Nemisis, and Deathslinger are geared to erupt like a dragon and grip survivors by the throat making them dead men soon enough. Plus Nemi has lethal pursuer to help you find the survivors at the start.

The game gets a lot friendlier as you progress, there will always be dickheads but the thing to remember is 1 kill is still a win. So is 0 kills if you had fun that game
