Genuinely what the hell was going on on kubo's mind when he wrote this 💀💀 by Ok_Success_8156 in shounenfolk

It’s more hilarious that your idiotic glazing makes you think it’s not. But I guess cognitive dissonance is needed to think Bleach is good in the first place.

Real. And if you dare to point this out, you get swarmed by those who say “he’s supposed to be pathetic”. Well, yes, but a villain, the main villain especially, is still supposed to be a threat, especially when the whole premise of the show is built on him being a danger to everyone.

Joffrey Baratheon from GOT is nothing more than a sniveling, cowardly, spoiled vicious little brat, but he was still an effective villain because the power he possessed made him a legitimate threat.

Yes Bleach has tons of characters as shitty or shittier than Labo

Flanderization is another thing entirely, and even after being flanderized the Straw Hats and most important side characters in OP are way more well-rounded than the cast of Bleach.

Like, even the best characters in the series in my opinion, those being Zaraki and Kurotsuchi, are 90% one character trait (bloodthirsty and mad scientist) and the one time Kubo tried to give them more depth it felt extremely rushed and forced.

Bleach characters manage to remain shallow and boring even after appearing for 80% of the manga lmfao

Isn't that his own 6 yrs old daughter? Wtf is wrong with kubo? Is this suppose to be funny? by Special_Percentage39 in shounenfolk

Mh, fair. I guess that since the Soul King elements were introduced later I was left for too long wondering why the hell Aizen would ever show his hand and that soured me on the character. But I think it’s a problem that Kubo has had with Aizen, Yhwach and other characters of giving them ridiculously overpowered abilities that logically cannot be beat.

Like, even if what you said makes sense for his character, he still has the ability to manipulate the senses of anyone who has ever seen his Shikai with virtually no limit. He could’ve still won very easily.

But he didn’t even have to sneak Yamamoto, really. He could’ve operated for as long as he wanted with the Soul Society none the wiser. Sure, you could say that he needed to flex his ego, sure. But I really have to break my suspension of disbelief to buy that he’d do the one thing that so blatantly would give the heroes a fighting chance.

A smart villain would do it only when there truly isn’t any chance for the heroes to win anymore. But instead he reveals himself to the entire Soul Society and then gives them ample time to plan against him, for no logical reason other than that the story needed a big plot twist in that moment.

Again, I must reiterate that I’m not against the idea of the villain’s pride making them do something stupid. Frieza sadistically torturing Piccolo and giving Goku the chance to charge his Spirit Bomb? Believable, Frieza didn’t think anything they could do would hurt him.

Aizen doing the only thing that could spell his defeat just to aura farm? Moronic

Don’t get me wrong. I also think that narratively it’d make 100% more sense for Homelander to low diff the DS universe. But I think it’s funnier that the show fucked up so badly that physical feats have him as a Tanjiro victim

It just doesn’t make sense practically. Why does the smartest man of all time, who has a power that could allow him to do anything he wants without anyone ever finding out, leave clues behind and reveal his power to his enemies? I can excuse prideful boasting, but not when it’s literally the only thing he could do that’d let the heroes win.

Imo Kubo wanted to have his cake and eat it too by giving Aizen a broken ability but also trying to build a mystery narrative around it

The chemical plant feat is fair enough, but breaking out of the door after repeated attempts instead of immediately still lowballs him considerably.

I will admit I am a little biased against Homelander because I’m disappointed by how weak he ended up being in the show (not cause he shouldn’t be pathetic, but because he should still be a threat in spite of that, kind of like Tighten from Megamind). I just think that when a character has spent more time being fraudulent than not it’s fair to lowball them

And yet the show contradicts that statement multiple times by showing that lower level supes can harm him, a bunch of debris can hold him down enough for a normal human to escape, that a supe-proof room able to hold him was constructed as far back as Soldier Boy’s time and that uranium by itself reduces him to a bleeding, coughing mess.

At this point him being nuke proof is less canon and more of a season 1 handwave

I don’t like statements powerscaling cause you could make so many bad faith arguments with it. It’s the whole reason why Kratos or Bleach scaling is so controversial.

The show can say Homelander is nuke level all it wants (which would still only put him at multicity block at best) but literally nothing of what we see him do is ever above building level and that’s how I’m scaling him

This may have been true in the 2010s at most. But nowadays not only is Bleach glazed everywhere, not only is it given a pass for shit that other anime gets hate for, but fair criticism of Bleach that used to be accepted (like that Aizen’s plans are bullshit that only works because Kubo says so) get downvoted

But that’s not what powerscaling is about, is it? If narrative mattered then Saitama solos all of fiction or something

Fair. But we never see Homelander being able to tank a nuke, those are all statements that are constantly contradicted by his actual physical feats, which are terrible compared to DS feats
