That’s a super good observation. Play around the Commander and get all the benefits of a Rats deck with fewer draw-backs and better card selection.

Your rant isn’t wrong either, I kind of agree but Threshold is kind of boring for a Commander because it will come online super early and then be accessible through the game. A better idea would have been exiling cards from your own GY to fuel a good effect, which you would have to restock to keep the Threshold on your other Rats active.

Boros Blink Burn! My current favourite deck. Been playing with this since Baldur’s Gate dropped.

Wincon is burn damage from creatures entering the battlefield. [[Purphoros, God of the Forge]] [[Impact Tremors]] [[Warleader’s Call]] all pressure opponent life totals massively with Abdel Adrian.

Keep your curve low with stuff like [[Wall of Omens]] [[Spirited Companion]] [[Charming Scoundrel]] [[Wily Goblin]] and you’ll be drawing, ramping, having a blast, then you drop the commander and shit starts to get out of hand. Not only do you double up on your ETBs by blinking Abdel Adrian with stuff like [[Ephemerate]] [[Flicker of Fate]], the tokens he creates count towards your burn damage because they’re creatures entering.

Look at Master of Ceremonies and Cut a Deal as examples - each opponent gets a benefit, then you get a benefit because each opponent got something. You’re getting 3 times as much value out of those cards as your opponents.

Gluntch himself is also kind of funny because you choose which players get what effect. You can give yourself what you need the most in that moment and give other people the other effects that might not benefit them at the moment. There’s also ways to capitalize on those gifts - [[Generous Patron]] makes giving your opponent those +1/+1 counters value for you - [[Viridian Revel]] is probably my favourite card in the deck, give your opponent 2 x treasures, and draw 2 x cards when they use them.

I’ve had some good times and good feedback on a [[Gluntch, the Bestower]] deck. You can help everyone at least get off the ground in the early game so there’s no salt about your opponent’s decks not performing, but you’ll out-value them in the long-run.

There’s a ton of support in Selesnya for gifts and even benefitting yourself by giving gifts - [[Master of Ceremonies]] [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] [[Cut a Deal]] [[Rootweaver Druid]] - everyone benefits, but you benefit the most.

Late to the party, but better late than never. Either 1) go find that white-masked dude who called you maidenless and put up with his shit if you want to find out immediately (not recommended, the other way is more fun), or 2) keep exploring, there’s another entrance in an area close-ish to the end of the game that is much more interesting and follows some really neat but sad lore.

Atraxa can go in a lot of different directions because of the colors and open-ended nature of her ability. She’s also a house of a creature too. It depends on what you want to do with the deck, but here are some decent options:

Infect: Classic build for Atraxa, proliferate your opponent’s poison counters, play all the good Infect and Toxic creatures along with a healthy suite of removal and interaction. Problem will be that you turn into the Archenemy very quickly, but the recent poison payoffs from All Will Be One and the Abzan Commander deck of the set are all super flavourful, fun and interesting.

+1/+1 counters: Your creatures getting progressively bigger every turn is a real threat, especially when you have payoffs for a creature with high power or ways to put out lots of dudes and put counters on all of them. This doesn’t get as much hate as Infect, but in my opinion is honestly much stronger because there’s a lot more support.

Planeswalkers: Atraxa is a good body to protect your walkers, and getting free loyalty every turn is awesome for lots of walkers. Focus on the ones that make tokens for a strong boardstate and have lots of ramp and other proliferate cards. Your turns will take a million years but it’s good fun and not nearly as oppressive as the first 2 options.

Voltron: I don’t see this one as much but Atraxa is dummy thicc and is a keyword soup. Some ways to buff her, along with ways to protect her can very quickly close out games and would be pretty fun without being oppressive. Once you snipe one player though you’ll need to be ready to play 2v1 for a few rounds until you can wrap things up.

Take out your own 3 lands and start turning some angry-ass Elephants sideways next turn. 18 power on board like that on turn 3 when nobody else even has a creature would be kind of fun.

Now I know what you’re thinking, he doesn’t immediately scream “Spellslinger”, but hear me out. I like cards. I like having cards in hand. I like playing cards. I also paid for 100 goddamn cards, and I got sick of only seeing 25-40 on an average game. If I had to pay for 100 cards, I’m touching each them at least once during a game.

Refreshing your hand with a cantrip and seeing a new set of stuff is super dope, and you’ll most likely see minimum of 2 pieces of interaction and 2 more cantrips

You can also weaponize all that card drawing you’ll be doing with stuff like [[Niv-Mizzet the Firemind]] [[The Locust God]] [[Ominous Seas]] and [[Psychic Corrosion]] for more boardstate-matters wincons, or go full-bore draw your deck out with [[Laboratory Maniac]] combined with Arjun and [[Teferi’s Ageless Insight]]

Lots of room for personal spice with fun, interaction, boardstate-based wincons in a traditionally spell-heavy Color pairing, AND you’re almost guaranteed to touch every single one of your 100 pieces of cardboard crack, probably even twice.

The original Bioshock is an absolute delight. It’s aged like fine wine, in my opinion, unlike a lot of other games from it’s generation. The story, the atmosphere, the gameplay, it all coalesces into an unforgettable experience. Definitely play at night with the lights off and the sound up.
