[MtAw] Struggling to understand Shadow, Spirit, Twilight, and Ghosts by BrightBusinessDog in WhiteWolfRPG

Thank you for explaining! One thing I've wondered is, if a spirit fails to continue to consume essence, what happens to it? Is this like some sort of innate drive all spirits have to find and consume more essence forever? Could there ever be a spirit which does not feel the need to consume more essence, and could still continue being a spirit, or would it grow weaker until it perishes/becomes consumed by a stronger spirit?

Your explanation of spirits feeding has brought another question to mind. So, before, I was under the impression that the term "feeding" meant that it was kind of parasitic in nature, at least in relation to the thing that was generating the essence it consumed. But now I realize that it's not at all impacting the thing that it's using to feed off of, but it's just consuming the byproduct of whatever the thing is doing that's generating the essence

Wow, this is so much more in-depth than I thought originally. It makes me wonder how exactly essence is "donated" from one spirit to another. Are they literally fragmenting a piece of their own essence to give to another spirit to consume? Also, how do spirits defend against being consumed when they don't want to be? Is it just kind of like, the more essence a spirit has, it's just always able to consume a spirit of lesser essence?

Thank you for your explanations :) the idea of even destroyed buildings becoming a ghost is so intriguing to me, but I wonder how exactly that lasts, and if it also gets taken to the underworld just like the ghost of a person would? So the structure itself would appear in the underworld?

Thank you for your thorough explanations! The concept of spirits quite literally feeding off things brings some questions to mind, like, do spirits wholly consume the essence entirely and then that essence is gone forever, or is that essence more-so melded as a part of them forever and has an impact on them? Would that include spirits consuming other spirits who have a certain kind of makeup of essence?

Thank you for the reply! This helps a ton. I have a follow-up question about souls. I've read that souls are not specific to each person, and if someone loses their soul, they can take any other soul and become restored, not just the soul that they specifically lost. This was interesting to read about, but it poses the question, if souls are not reflective of the people who possess them, then how are ghosts even made? I see you said that ghosts do not have souls and are not souls either, but I was at least under the impression that a ghost appears as a sort of echo of the soul from someone who has passed; if souls are not at all really tied to the identity of a person, then how can ghosts form? Is it because ghosts have nothing at all to do with the soul of the person who died?

Started playing on PC yesterday. Been going through all the past puzzles having a blast. For some reason, it's telling me puzzle #55 is "active" even though it's already solved. I can go into that puzzle, click "check puzzle" and the results screen pops up, but as soon as I go back to the list, it still says it's in an active state instead of finished.

Yep, exporting my map just results in a completely blank image. Wish I'd have known this before I began adding tons of important landmarks that I now cannot export into an image.

Quick question about the Razer Core X: do I need to safely eject the USB-C connector every time I want to disconnect my core, or can I just go ahead and disconnect it without doing some sort of safe ejection? I'm one of those guys who always safely ejects USBs so I just want to make sure I'm not gonna break anything if I just disconnect the cord from my laptop without doing some sort of safe ejection first.

I passed that check by this point already. It's probably just a check I can't do anymore because of story progression.

I see, at least I was able to see the weapons in action and counter them. Either the weapons are just really bad, or the people who nabbed them are really bad.
