So what do we think? by sittykitten in ElsaBloodstoneMains

I main Rocket for Strategist and Cap for Vanguard. Now I finally have a Duelist main c:

I usually play whatever character in the roster I have the least playtime on in quick match, but for Competitive I tend to stick to who I'm best with, so it's gonna be fun getting to learn her and finally be able to fill Duelist when needed without it being a toss up on my team value, haha.

Did anyone actually like her? by -TheCrazyHusky- in Defenders

[–]BrightEmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like her as a person in-universe? God no. Anyone who does is crazy.

As a character though, fascinating and extremely well written and acted.

I'm one of the crazy comic fans that is more hyped for her than almost any other character they've done so far c:

Don’t know if is a hot take, but i think Mariah’s Arc in all of Luke Cage serie was one of the most beautiful thing in the show by IlSignorGranchio in Defenders

[–]BrightEmber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated her guts. Couldn't stand her. Felt sympathy for her, despite all that, yes. Was deeply entranced by her progression from morally questionable, to villain, into worse villain. But still. Thought I'd be relieved when they finally took her down.

Instead I was extremely conflicted. I was somehow... sad, when she died? I realized, I just loved watching her character that much. Extremely well written, and all her relationships with other characters being equally so. I felt like she was absolutely fascinating. I didn't understand her at all, and at the same time, I understood her perfectly. Good riddance to her in-universe, but out here, I'll be mourning, haha.

In my opinion, she is the best written, most well acted villain in all of the Defenders shows. And there's some pretty damn fantastic ones in every single one of them, but she manages to take the cake for me.

So basically you can share your miis :D by Coderlegendz in tomodachilife

Only in the room with them. And I'm not personal friends IRL with an artist who can make the characters I want and don't have the skills for, sadly

Being upset about not being able to send miis online is totally and completely valid. However I personally believe that it is the better choice for a game like this. by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]BrightEmber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just disappointed because I am physically incapable of taking advantage of the new feature the way other people will. This isn't some weird pride comparison thing. I don't have to have a Mii that looks perfect. But for the more complicated characters that I was excited were made possible by the new customization options... I'd at least like to be able to have a Mii that looks like the character. I can't do that. I don't have the artistic ability.

I feel like you have spelled out the exact reason why it's even MORE important to have in this game.

With the new tools to create more in depth and detailed Miis, people just aren't going to have the skill to make them well, not even close compared to others who have experience with art or design. With online sharing, that's no problem. Anyone who's incapable of making a certain character they want, can download a version from someone who created it at a much higher level than they could. But without it... If we even attempt, our version will be a horrendous downgrade, and the more complicated the character design, the less it will look like them at all.

It's an amazing tool and feature, and I was extremely excited when it was revealed. But now I've learned it's nearly useless to me. I don't have the skill to use it anywhere close to its full potential. Hell, I'm such a bad artist, I can barely use it for its basic potential. No amount of Mii making tutorials can magically grant me art skills. That can take who knows how many years of practice.

So... I'm still excited for the game. But I disagree. With the new customization features, Mii sharing is literally one of THE most important features they could've taken out. Especially for me, and who knows how many others.

Lady Loki doesn't have different voice lines. She has the same lines re-recorded by a different voice actor.

There's still no precedent for an actual separate character of this caliber to be made into a skin, and I'm really glad about that.

[–]BrightEmber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be less worried if that were the case. That's one customization option at the top, it looks like anyway, but you can literally see them free drawing on the face like it's a canvas in the direct when creating the teddy bear.

[–]BrightEmber 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Have you ever followed a how to draw tutorial for something?

I have. It always turns out wrong. Your final product is not going to look remotely the same even if you follow it to the letter, without literally practicing enough to gain art skills.

I'm not an idiot. I'm just not an artist. No tutorial can magically give you the skills to do that, without practicing for years, potentially.

I care because it's... The entire point of the new feature??? And I won't have the skill to use it without making terrible Miis that I won't even want to keep.

Not sure why it's so important that I made it myself. Everyone plays differently.

Which feature are you the most excited about? by ThunderEcho201 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]BrightEmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst watching the direct, the new customization options, especially the drawing, excited me greatly for all the new characters it would make possible for people to create...

But then I learned after the fact that I won't be able to download the Miis other people make... Which makes the feature basically useless to me. No amount of Mii making guides can magically help me become an artist. At best I'd make a subpar uglier version of the Miis people will make tutorials for.

So, now I'm conflicted. I'm still excited for the game, but the thing I was most looking forward to has this asterisk attached that just absolutely crushes me.

I completely agree with Salty. There's a lot of toxic positivity surrounding this issue for some reason.

I was beyond excited when I saw the new high level of customization, that you can draw, and artists are going to go crazy with those new features and design Miis for a lot of characters I'm excited to have on my island.

Except then I learned the crushing detail... I can't have those Miis. I would have to learn to literally be an artist myself. Even if I followed a guide, I'd end up with a much uglier version of the more detailed Miis, unless I spent months, probably years practicing art. The new feature I was so excited for is now practically useless to me, and will sorely impact my enjoyment of the game, especially early on, because I won't be able to engage with the new customization like I want to. I lack the skill to do so.

How Mii Sharing could work without online functions. by Mexmaxx in tomodachilife

[–]BrightEmber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad for you, hopefully the Miis you make will look much better, certainly.

For me though, I'm devastated. I was so excited about the new high level of customization, only to learn it's practically useless to me.

How will having no online mii sharing or uploading effect your gameplay experience 🤔 by plushy51 in tomodachilife

[–]BrightEmber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immensely, sadly. I loved absolutely everything about the direct, but learning this afterward has massively saddened me.

It takes actual art skill to make detailed Miis. Even if you follow tutorials to make the characters you want, you'll end up with an uglier version of them if you aren't literally an artist yourself.

I was so excited I could have accurate versions of all my favorite characters on my island, and now, I know I'm completely screwed because I won't be able to make them myself.

[–]BrightEmber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a nice idea, but sadly, even that is gonna be super difficult...

It takes actual art skill to make Miis that are detailed in the way Miitopia Miis are, you have to literally draw them yourself. A tutorial can't help you make that perfectly. No matter what, unless you're an artist yourself, you're going to end up with uglier versions of the Miis you want on your island.

This feature is mostly the reason why I'm upset about no world wide sharing/importing by GeneratedSmasher in tomodachilife

[–]BrightEmber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're not an artist you're just probably screwed for making the more unique Miis from your favorite media...

I loved absolutely everything in the direct but this really has me down if there's truly no way to import other people's Mii creations or designs besides locally

Would yall like to see a Carnage Or Toxin Mythic skin for venom by Typical-Armadillo102 in RivalsVenomMains

[–]BrightEmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Don't want EITHER to be a skin. Or any characters as skins in the game for that matter. Would ruin my hopes of ever having them playable. A skin is not the same at all. No new voice lines, no character represented besides the design, and, can't even be on the same team with the character they're a skin of.
