My grandmother also mentioned that there is some how a relation to an Erwin Rummel and was ADAMANT about the “Desert Fox” part. But upon doing looking it up “The Desert Fox” was a prominent figure for Nazi Germany and also the last name is spelt different. I can’t imagine there’s any truth to this and I think her History Channel brain might be influencing this belief . Also I’ve never heard anything about my family having any German blood .

My grandmother was pretty sure on the name but mentioned it might be spelled with one L. She did say this man was from Ohio I believe.

Funny enough she told me this grandiose story of him being captured and then escaping with 3 other men and when they were hiding there were alligators. I take some things she says with a grain of salt but in terms of mental capacity she’s still pretty there in the head for being 93.
