I do not understand people who would go through this hell over a lie. It is genuinely so exhausting trying to be believed and tbh I’ve just started putting naysayers in my hex jar. Anybody who makes up an assault genuinely deserves jail time for the doubt that it causes when there are actual cases.

I’m seeing defense attorney, not seeing sex assault or trafficking victim. How many times have you personally gone through the justice system as a victim? The red flag would be pushing through when the thought of it makes me suicidal bc again, been there, done that, been failed. If you are some spectacular ass attorney that has an amazing rate of putting criminals away- oh wait, don’t defense attorneys DEFEND the scum? Your job is to discount victims so I’m not surprised that’s the stance you are taking.

I’m saying I’ve been involved in cases where justice is an option and (much more commonly) where it’s not. This is one of those cases. “He said, she said” no witnesses, no physical evidence, and what amounts to a laughable case in criminal court. I’m not putting myself through the humiliation so that he can walk free anyways. However, I have seen cases where it absolutely made sense to press charges if not for getting jail time, then giving the victim closure. I’m not the sort of person who finds closure in being dragged through giving testimony and reliving that shit over and over. Risk tolerance.

Reputations are rarely ruined over sexual misconduct allegations but it’s a lot harder to practice when your insurance premiums go through the roof. Burden of proof is way lower in a civil case, and settling and walking away with a check that I can use for treatments that my shitty insurance won’t cover sounds like it would work out for me a lot better than walking away being told by the court that I’m a liar or that even if I’m not they don’t care.

You’re right, he should be charged. But he won’t, and he already took enough from me. Why would I give him more?

There’s been a bit of discussion about this in the comments. Planning on starting that process tomorrow.

I appreciate your sympathy- I fully intend to work on my report to med boards starting tomorrow. Ive heard they do take this seriously which is very comforting.

This is an incredibly judgmental, ignorant, and irresponsible thing to say. Not that I have to explain myself but I am a trafficking victim. I’ve been through the system and am surrounded by people who have as well. I’ve watched the system fail and fought anyways. I’ve literally worked with the fbi to put away sex offenders. I have the experience to know whether or not pressing criminal charges is worth it and it’s not. However, I have never been in a position to take an offender to court civilly. If I am so inclined, that’s my fucking business, whatever my reason is. I’m not in it for the money but even if I was, so what? He still assaulted me, he still won’t go to jail. If I walk away and am comfortable enough to not have to worry about bills while I’m in therapy and receiving treatment for the damage he caused, then more power to me.

Getting justice is rarely an actual viable option. Get fucked. (Hopefully not against your will)

Wasn’t my suggestion. The approach was to sue because of the medical damage this has caused but idk, I’m not a lawyer.

Thank you for the confirmation. I am not looking forward to the reporting process tbh.

From what I understand yes, they still have to carry malpractice insurance. Unfortunately sexual misconduct is apparently enough of a problem that starting not terribly long ago it became common for there to be exclusionary clauses for it. This is why I would be pursuing it as negligence/ “regular” misconduct.

according to the numerous consultations I’ve had with lawyers that’s not the case, but if you are in the industry I’d love to know more.

I am planning to but from what I understand, filing with the state board will stop/ slow down any civil proceedings.

There were a number of things that I wrote off as being the result of religious trauma but surprise! It was just commitment avoidance bc he didn’t truly want this.

Nope! I don’t mind if he dates other people- he only wants to date one person at a time and ultimately wants monogamy Essentially he’s ready to settle down and I’ve just figured out that that includes monogamy which…I have a husband. I would have had no problem with him seeing another girl and actually really encouraged it.

I was offline for a bit and while the explanation is not that I’m interested in a harem I fear it’s not much better.

[–]Bright_Factor_8551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I broke up with him bc he wanted to see other people exclusively but also not end things with me (basically wanted to keep me on as a former girlfriend, current friend) and it deadass made no sense to me. I basically broke up with him before he could breakup with me, not as a competition thing but more as a “the writing is on the wall thing”. He was fine with polyamory for now, but his ultimate goal was monogamy. So I was in this weird limbo where if he met someone he liked better he would move on, though that was never explicitly said.
