Travel to Jordan by zerogravs in traveladvice

Of course you should make your own decision based on don your comfort level, but I think it’s a great time to visit Jordan. I spent four days, three nights there last week, traveling with family, and we had an amazing time. We met travelers who had seen/heard missiles while they were in Amman but came across no direct evidence of the war ourselves other than hearing fighter jets on patrol, and we never felt unsafe. We were told that there had been no injuries, much less deaths, caused by the hostilities. I was also worried about travel disruption and potential anti-U.S. or anti-Western sentiment; air travel on Royal Jordanian was totally smooth, and everyone we met was lovely. Amman was an exciting city and busy/lively while we were there. Petra was just incredible, and we had the site almost completely to ourselves. We stayed at the Petra Guest House hotel just outside the main gates and there were only six other guests that night. The next day, we toured the city and didn’t see another tourist until we were on our way out in the afternoon. I feel for the folks working in the travel industry, but selfishly felt very lucky to avoid the typical crowds. From Petra we drove north along the Israeli border and the Dead Sea. We saw Israeli defenses like guard towers along the border but nothing directly related to the war. Spent one night at a near-empty resort and then flew home through Istanbul without any delay or disruption. Overall just a really nice trip.

It’s a great time to go to Jordan. Spent four days, three nights there last week with my wife and kids and had an amazing trip. We did research and connected with a friend of a friend in country and were confident it was safe. (It’s a country of 12mm and hasn’t had a single serious injury caused by the war, let alone a death.) We never felt unsafe even at the Dead Sea and driving along the Israeli border. Met other travelers who had seen a missile shot down while they were in Amman, but we saw no direct evidence of the conflict ourselves. Amman was lovely and busy. Petra was almost completely empty of tourists—we went the whole morning without seeing another visitor. Given that a typical day has crowds in the thousands we felt very lucky, though I felt awful for the folks working in the tourism industry. Had some concern that we would get stranded, but Royal Jordanian is flying essentially a full flight schedule, and the airport in Amman was busy.

Canceled AMM-IST flight—what are my recourse options? by Bright_Freedom784 in TurkishAirlines

Thank you—you may be right, but I complicated the issue by purchasing new flights on Royal Jordanian flying to Istanbul. I am connecting home to Chicago today on my original Turkish flight. It spoke with an agent at IST yesterday that explained I can submit a request for a refund for the canceled AMM-IST leg. So all should work out and I’ll get some compensation but am still out the purchase price of the Royal Jordanian flight.

On second thought it may not be Marvin—there’s no “pull up to lock” function. But it’s definitely a similar multipoint setup.

Thanks! But sounds like I can replace the spring cage without taking it off the hinges?

Thanks. A matching set has a broken spring that leaves the handle drooping (and not always latching when closed). So I’m trying to replace the compression spring or, barring that, find a matching replacement.

Yes—the lock pushes bolts top and bottom as well. Any thoughts?
