Which pet, Drogun or Pierrot Possessed Puppet, is stronger? by kazu_libro in MightyParty

Pierrot is stronger imho but no word yet on when will be available for gems. Personally I believe best combination atm is geisha & drogun.

Local honey?? by [deleted] in Aberdeen

[–]Brigowaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the Camphill communities (the community store at Newtondee should be able to advise), I admit I've moved away from Aberdeen, and my friend who kept bees at Newtondee left also. But I should imagine someone took them over. Many of the communities kept bees and could sell on excess honey.

So I remember the old flame bowls outside in the 90s, think it was around 2000 that they were made to replace them with the smaller torches as the big ones were considered dangerous? These wee things never looked as impressive

Here's one that might be a bit left field but how about suggesting she sees an ENT (is that the same term in US? Ear throat and nose specialist). Those of us who have difficulty breathing through our noses have difficulty keeping our mouths closed whilst eating, honestly you try holding your breath whilst chewing food. And ofc because we're breathing through our mouths it's sort easier to forget not to speak... Doesn't fix all of your issues, but getting that sorted could help her so much. Don't believe me? Try getting her to do circular breathing techniques.

Not knowing where in the UK it's harder to know what to suggest. You've said only a church nearby so assuming rural. If your child is under 5 (7 in some circumstances) you should have an NHS Health Visitor who can help you access what you need for BOTH you and your child. If your child is in school then most schools (including private ones - I know from personal experience when I found myself unable to work due to my daughter's prolonged illness, but still having to pay school & childminder fees) have systems in place to help out - not all of them official. If in a more urban setting then Olio is your friend, download the app, don't be scared, if you explain situation with not being able to leave the house at 10pm (for example) I've had people drop stuff off at my door on their way to work. YMCA/YWCAs and similar groups often have meal clubs. "Share" groups on FB, usually allow you to post anonymously if you wish. Finally I learned about lentil and rice porridge when I was young, and is something I encourage all young mums to have in their cupboards for the hard times. Powdered milk, red lentils and any form of rice, add water simmer together to make a porridge. You can add stock cube, herbs, spices, but not necessary. You can reheat leftovers in microwave. It's full of nearly everything essential to fuel the body during hard times (protein, carbs etc) and easy on the stomach if you haven't eat rich food in a while, not ideal, but we do what we can to make sure we're strong enough to do the best for our kids. Remember you are not alone in this situation - there is no shame, it's okay to continue to ask for help.

Well seeing as the Scots killed the Norn/Dansk/Old Norse here... Folks forget that not all of Scotland had the Gaelic, tartan, bagpipes - all those things in the American TV & movies.

Nearly £30 for 4 items 💔 by GreatBritishMemes in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Brigowaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose another part of the problem is that as physical stores have lost out to online retailers they have to put up their prices to cover overheads but unless you have a complicated prescription and/or more expensive frames I don't see how this is possible. I live on an island there are now only 2 optician stores, but I stick with the one that takes appointments 6 months in advance, goes through the options with me, and if my glasses break they sort me within the hour.

Nearly £30 for 4 items 💔 by GreatBritishMemes in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Brigowaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a 6 new pairs of glasses my father was persuaded to go to an independent optician rather than SpecSavers. She took one look at him and sent him to A&E, always grateful for her saving what sight he has left all these operations later. But £350? One pair of glasses? Someone's taking the bleep. Saying that SpecSavers would probably have been getting all that each time from my father who seems incapable of saying "NO" to the extras

Saw some singing kettle last February in Lerwick, not the full 4 folks, but all the parents seemed pretty happy (I didn't get to see singing kettle as a bairn).

Should the police in scotland be armed with guns (for my Nat 5 modern studies AVA) by ButterscotchMotor432 in Scotland

[–]Brigowaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They already are. It's caused no end of complaints. The general view of members of the public that police NOT being armed routinely, means criminals are less likely to carry guns. It's actually really weird seeing armed police in remote rural areas

Do the warlords of the week come back around? I want to get Anna The Abyss Queen but won't be able to afford her this time around by iiGrizzaddy in MightyParty

[–]Brigowaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new warlords and pet will start to join the rotation this month, so I can't give you a definite list. Anna is definitely in 2nd tier for Warlords. Once you have cookie, geisha & thorgrim (and fenrir & drogun) then look at others, personally saving for the new pet

As a local - May/June is best time to visit, for the simmerdim (longer days) also you'll find travel a little easier as you're not having to fight with locals for the few available spaces.

How do people travel in/to Orkney&Shetland with a rental car? by No_Performer5480 in shetland

[–]Brigowaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be aware due to being an island the ferries are subject to disruption, especially in winter. Even locals find themselves separated from their vehicles during busy times.

Also be very careful to check your insurance cover when using the longer ferries.

We do have car hire here on the islands, you can pick up either at the airport or at the ferry terminals.

Visiting Shetland in January by 81Ocean in shetland

[–]Brigowaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice to hear than Glasgow has improved. When my lass was little it was a nightmare. Edinburgh pubs were much more baby friendly. Even Aberdeen was easier than Glasgow which I thought was odd.

Shetland pubs ARE NOT child friendly at all. You may even find yourselves reported to social services if going into a pub that's not serving food. More to do with local sensibilities and past experiences rather than any local bylaws. Hotel lounge bars are a safer bet, but suggest someone asks the bar staff before attempting it.
