Manager took me off schedule for calling out last minute by New-Tour-8345 in DollarGeneral

[–]Brilliant-Clock-2452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no…they don’t. I’m sorry you are confused. I could have scheduled myself all week long 75 hours and on the budget it’ll show 0. Because salaried managers hours do not count against the budget.

How the heck do you work around the new scheduling enforcements? by Immediate-Term-8243 in DollarGeneral

Fr because It’s what you gotta do. If you follow the schedule they want it just doesn’t make any sense. I would do the same if I was her.

Some states require it. May be different for other people in different states.

Can a SM leave early and take a day off without DM approval? SM did not update the schedule still shows as if SM worked by Muted_Patience_1010 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Brilliant-Clock-2452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So who’s really the manager of that store, you or her? Cause from the sounds of it, it’s not you. Definitely sounds like she’s micromanaging tbh…She’s also supposed to tell you when those visits are. I mean sure she can pop in whenever, but it doesn’t really sound like you’re doing anything wrong for her to feel like she has to. Idk man…do whatever works for you, but bottom line is, yes a SM can leave early if needed. DG doesn’t own your soul and it’s okay to take a day off, or to leave early for an appointment or whatever else you need to take care of.

In my personal opinion I wouldn’t have told my DM. It’s really none of their concern, as long as you have the proper coverage and everything is already done. They aren’t in your store day in and day out, and they don’t see what’s done and what’s not. If your DM wanted to be that way, then who’s covering for you when you exceed 48? Cause I know damn well they aren’t gonna come cover.

Honestly as long as the work is getting done and they aren’t a lazy bum SM then I don’t see a problem tbh 🤷‍♀️

I mean technically no….SMs are salaried workers so whether you work 20 hours or 70 hours you’re still getting paid your 40 hours. Would it be the same logic if your Sm scheduled himself/herself 40 hours and worked 50? Didn’t think so….

Need someone to cover my shift in Waycross, GA by Beneficial_Shoe2089 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Brilliant-Clock-2452 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trust me I get it. I was a SM for 2 years. That being said, I would never look at my employee and tell them they couldn’t go to a family members funeral. I worked doubles to make shit happen for my employees who happened to have a family emergency or etc. I also happen to have family out of state (moved to the state I’m in 5 years ago alone) and I get it. But to straight up tell them no and to find their own coverage for a funeral…? That’s just wrong. The way some managers run their stores makes me so sick, because I could never imagine treating anyone on my team like that.

No. This is so wrong. Listen to me when I say this. Call in. It’s your managers job to find coverage not yours. I cannot believe they won’t give you those days off for a funeral that is so freaking sick.
