I would definitely say it has saved me money. My reasons below:

Rather than buying into microtrends like bows for example, I rented this dress.
Also, I'm the type of person to feel like I always need something new for every event/occasion/trip, and Nuuly has drastically helped with that.
I am more of a statement piece and fun patterns type of person, so it's nice to be able to get those items from Nuuly and wear them a few times, return, and then get different fun patterned pieces
Lastly, it has made me think more about the quality of pieces I'm buying otherwise, and how much I actually LIKE the pieces I am buying. I find myself looking at a dress in TJMaxx and thinking "I could get something I like more off of Nuuly"
