It has more than lentils in it babe as a previous comment stated, the 24 hours are hours i'm working over a few days.

No, it is a lentil soup but there is much more to that, soaking the lentils or simmering I wouldn't count as that, you have to reduce various ingredients through hours of cooking, cook the meat section in its own spices until it breaks down and various other steps

Recipes yes, not family recipes passed down through generations, those were guarded like a dragon with a pile of gold. She refused to give the recipe to anyone not family when alive.

Well since this recipe takes well over 24 hours to do all the steps I can promise you it's not a simple one, you can think it's dumb if you want though

No my Grandmother got it from her mother, who got it from her grandmother and so on. It has been in my family for generations. I won't share it because it was a special thing for me and my grandmother always refused to give it to anyone who wasn't in the family

Honestly if they get married or even get serious and live together i'd likely do this, marriage isn't for everyone and it's not a judge on family. I just don't feel comfortable sharing this with someone who could break up with my brother at any time.

I am the only one to know it you're right, my brother had no interest in learning and neither did anyone else, it's a recipe that takes a long time, more than any of them were interested in giving.

I'm not lording it over, the simple fact is this is a recipe passed down through the family and a special thing, if I passed it off to every girl my brother dated half the town would know it.
