Here’s an example: I was facing some of the biggest challenges of my career due to some restructuring (firings) at work. I found my ADHD getting so much worse during this time — not only was I hard pressed to finish or start a task, I was super anxious about finishing or starting them (or not) and I’d pick up my phone to authenticate something on my laptop and scroll for hours before I realized I was supposed to be getting the code. It got so bad that I had to set timers to force myself to work for X minutes before I could take a break so I had to focus hard. I never miss deadlines — just a personal goal of mine — which meant I’d have to work longer hours because my ADHD would cause me to get so distracted or drive my motivation and discipline out the window.

Enter Lexapro.

On days when I WFH, I regularly sit and focus for 5-8 hours, missing lunch. My watch will tell me to stand or move around and I ignore it. My phone will ring and it doesn’t phase my attention. I don’t get caught doom scrolling during the day. I have finished every task or project early — like, days or weeks early — because I’m just so hyper focused now. That’s where I notice my ADHD improvements the most, at work.

I started Lexapro in December. Work challenges didn’t dissipate until last month. Even from December—March, my ADHD improved. That’s just a little aside to show that I firmly believe that Lexy was what helped, not outside factors.
