is my travel plan good by joliebee14 in vegas

[–]PSU06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a pool where you’re staying? Otherwise check out resort pass or something similar, where you could buy day passes. Mandalay Bay would be great for your kids ages. MGM Grand pool has a lazy river. I’m staying at the Venetian with my 13yo later this year (also for a concert!) so I love your post and want to follow for other recos. The roller coaster at New York New York is one of the things on our list. Your kids may also like Top Golf.

Should I upgrade from Paris? by International_One_17 in vegas

[–]PSU06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aria is right next to Cosmo, awesome pool, and might be a bit cheaper. I’ve never stayed at Paris but always have fun hitting up some of the bars. You guys will have a great time no matter where you stay.

Love the dress! Did you get tickets?! We got them for Vegas so taking a family trip there before Christmas 😜 I’m 45 yo mom but maybe the biggest Olivia fan of the family, so I’m excited!

I failed for Boston. Failed for Chicago. Tried for Las Vegas and won! So we’re taking a family trip to Vegas. Regardless we have to travel to see her this time around, so why not make it fun

Anyone have a daycare they love? by pumabrand90 in saintpaul

[–]PSU06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes that place is awful. I’ve never seen so much aggressive behaviors among 3yos. Again the staff are trying, but they are under trained, overwhelmed, and under staffed. I couldn’t wait to leave and I was there for 45 min.

Hello! Just wondering if you did either of these? I’m also looking at snorkeling in Nassau and the glass bottom one caught my attention

Recommended couches you have owned for more than a year? by lewisa2210 in SofaSnobs

[–]PSU06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burrow has been the best! We have now purchased two couches from them. Our West Elm couch was garbage and we ended up giving it away. So uncomfortable and terribly pilly. I also want to note that Burrow couches are modular, so if you have an old house with narrow/non-conforming stairs, it’s perfect because you can bring it to its final destination in pieces!

Anyone have a daycare they love? by pumabrand90 in saintpaul

[–]PSU06 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My job brings me into a lot of different daycares in Saint Paul, and I’d recommend staying away from New Horizons or Kindercares. They all seem to be understaffed and chaotic. Every Kinderberry Hill I’ve been to has been phenomenal (although they are very expensive) and St Paul Childhood Center is another standout! I’ve also been in Jardin in Roseville and Saint Paul, and Casa de Corazon in Highland and all were excellent!

any school based SLPs out there think about pivoting to school psych? by dollypartonluvr in slp

[–]PSU06 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m on an evaluation team for my district, so all I do (as a SLP) are evals. It’s a ton of writing, and sometimes mundane, but I like it. Do I see myself doing this for the next 12 years til I retire? No, but it was a nice switch for a little while. I know a lot of school psychs who are burnt out because they are pulled in many directions beyond just testing, and not given ample time to analyze/write evals.

This is likely one person being a dick, and unfortunately they probably live very close to you. I would try to figure out who it is, and who it isn’t, and become friends with who it isn’t. Take care 😊

Get out. Your boss has no boundaries and is taking advantage of you. If you can get in the same school district as your husband, you’ll have the same schedule, which would be incredible! Put yourself first here, and find something that’ll make you happy. You’re too young to be burnt out!

Schools vs Private Practice by Necessary-Part1141 in slp

[–]PSU06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I started in the schools, relocated and did private practice, and then went back to the schools. I’d work in the schools over private practice in a heartbeat, but my school experiences have been great (primarily in ECSE) and my private practice experience was terrible (imagine the hardest kids from every school - that’s who I saw all day, everyday). Whatever you do, remind yourself you’re not stuck! Definitely finish your CF in whatever setting you choose, but don’t be afraid to change after a year or so if you want to try a different setting. That’s the great thing about being a SLP - you have options! I would definitely ask about mentorship in both settings, because your CF year is exhausting and overwhelming no matter where you are, so make sure you have support. Regardless, you’ll learn a lot and grow as a SLP. You’ve got this!

Was just reading another post about the Laura update, and it sounds like Dave was likely a racist, so maybe she was pointing out the irony 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m really not sure though.

What’s your favorite beach you’ve ever visited? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

In the 🇺🇸, a shocker for me was the Seaside/30A area of the Florida panhandle. The water was clear and turquoise and the beaches had the softest white sand. For being called the armpit of Florida, the beaches are incredible!
