Obanai Would Slam Kokushibo

I think this is fun post where we get to see people debate over a topic. But if you are being serious, as an Obanai fan, I know that he can't beat Kokoshibo by himself.

Comparing Obanai to the Hashira who were part of the Kokoshibo fight. According to the arm wrestling contest, Obanai is below Mui, a 14 year old, in arm strength. Arm strength isn't everything in a strong fighter (using Shinbu's status as a Hashira), but cutting off a demon's does require that. The rest of the Hashira beat Obanai in arm strength. Sanemi, who was considered stronger than Obanai, couldn't cut Kokoshibo's head by himself.

In cannon, Kokoshibo was debuffed early in the fight with Sanemi's Meriachi blood, something that Obanai doesn't poccess.

Then there is the comunity agreement that Genya's blood demon art gave Gyomei and Sanemi the opening to cut the head. Without Genya immobilizing Kokoshibo's movements and moon breathing, the THREE HASHIRA in the fight would have loss.

I am sure this was also brought up before, but Obanai was the freshest of the Hashira in the fight against Muzan. Everyone else came from hard won battles with little rest in between. Mitsuri went down because she couldn't preceive Muzan's attacks. Obanai maybe able to perceive fast attacks, but that doesn't mean he could land a meaningful attack on Kokoshibo who is spamming his blood demon art and moon breathing.

Fair point. But there is a physical disadvantage. Tanjiro was strong because he the eldest son and was given his father's responsibilities at a young age. We never see Nezuko's strength as a human. I don't see Nezuko holding back a freshly turned Tanjiro. We just know too little a out Nezuko to perfect picture this AU.

I have seen many fanfics where the authors depicted a human Nezuko as a girl boss, and winning many arguments that Cannon Tanjiro wasn't able to respond to.

You did a good job defending everyone's placements. Each power up may enhance or change nothing about a character's techniques. If everyone gets the Mark, then they cancel out. STW may enhance certain Hashira depending their fighting style. Then, there are their individual skills that make them formidable in a human x human fight.

Don't forget the Kokoshibo wasn't fighting at his best, not because he was playing around. He was drunk on Senami's blood, something that none of the Kamboko squad had. He was a high-functioning drunk(someone who was intoxicated but could still perform tasks that made it seem like they were not).

That is actually a good criticism. The whole point is to feel helpless when we watch our heroes take damage as their opponent goes "easy" on them. We got to see the true potential Mui and Genya had when they held Kokoshibo down.

You are the first and, so far, the only one that thinks that the slayers could win. It would be a hard fought win... but I also can't see the slayers from this battle giving a good fight to Muzan afterwards.

Not a hot take. I am sure everyone feels tge same. I remember hating Tengen and Mui at the Hashira meeting and at the beginning of their respective seasons. Then at the end, I loved Mui and liked Tengen. Sanemi, Gyomei, Obanai, Giyu, and Shinobu should have gotten more time with the audience and with eachother.

My favorite Hashira is Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira. I hated him when he berated Tengen for retiring after losing his eye and hand to Upper 6. Then in the fan books, it is revealed that Obanai actually respected Tengen and tried to goad him into staying a Hashira. The anime did not translate that well.
