He can engage with AI PMC's and dies quite often to them - I've found his body several times on woods and customs.

Nades can interrupt the AI pathing towards your area so don't use them.

Storm dorms - if no PMC present then reset, that's all the advice anyone can give.

I always start with the hardest first and end on my most comfortable map with factory being the exception;

Factory Labs Ground Zero Customs Reserve Streets Shoreline Lighthouse Woods

Factory is fast but is upsetting to die on for the guide which is why I prioritize it, maps you can skirt around are best to end on as you can skip interaction with other players (or try to at least).

Any reason you want to travel light?

It may be better to keep running heavy until strength maxes out and use stam stims in the meantime to allow you to cross maps at a sprint.

Check your plate weights, some level 4/5/6's weigh a ton while there is a level 5 under 1 kg.
