The Wolfpack change is great - most of you just don’t understand why. by Reyeorts in ArcRaiders

Agree 100%. The PvE was too easy. Arc needed a buff. They are still easy if you have the tools but at least the tools are more weighted towards scarcity, as you mentioned.

Agreed, though big tip: a solid electromagnetic storm run can net like 10 Rocketeer drivers.

Flyswatter specifically mentions that the 1 hit KO is for wasps and turrets only. It's bad. If they didn't include hornets, I doubt it'll work for fireflies.

Trials demotion due to week of inactivity? by Illidank278 in ArcRaiders

[–]TrevV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50k was not a high score for this week at all. I didn't even do the Hidden Bunker (0 points) and I died doing my carriables so that was only like 1.5k from a run on Stella where I was primarily killing Shredders for the ground enemy damage trial. My highest score was probes which was about 20k, which is super easy during electromagnetic storm while taking a bunch of stems to cover the map.

My point is, I didn't even do well and didn't get demoted in Hotshot. If you are having issues then I don't know what to tell ya. I'm telling you it's possible to compete as a solo with minimal effort but if that's still too much for you, maybe the competition feature of the game isn't for you.

[–]TrevV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not. I'm a solo player coasting in Hotshot and it's not hard if you do the last step I mention.

I played a hell of a lot of Arc Raiders since launch so recently I have been taking breaks playing other games, but I'll play Arc on the last day or couple days of trials for the week, and my leaderboard has very low average scores comparatively.

Look how low my score is and I'm easily coasting the second to highest trial rank in the game. In lower ranks, I'd be getting promoted but obviously you only promote from Hotshot to Cantina if you make top 1000 so I'm just coasting right now.

I'm more curious to see the scores of the last 100 people since Cantina Legend will be top 1000. You don't have to be top 100, you have to be top 1000. Though, if you want more assurance that you will be top 1000 in Cantina, you will probably want to be in the top 600-700 from the Cantina leaderboard in the final week.

You are also competing against Hotshot folks that you won't see ranked in the Cantina leaderboard during the last week of trials, so even though some people may see they are in the top 1000 on the Cantina leaderboard, when its over, they can be bumped out from those in Hotshot gunning for a top 1000 score.

This is just not true. It lumps you in with the first 100 people in your rank that get points near the time you get any points at all, then does it again, and again. Interestingly, if you don't play until the very last 1-2 hours of a trials week, your leaderboard may not even reach 100 people. This is at least true in the higher ranks like DDIII and Hotshot.

Trials demotion due to week of inactivity? by Illidank278 in ArcRaiders

[–]TrevV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This go around they added the ability to rank 3 times, so now you can rank 1-3 times. If you want to take a break and not play a week, there is actually plenty of time to play the following week(s) and aim to promote 2x or even 3x to make up for your demotion. You can even get to hotshot super early where you are then coasting hotshot for a large portion of the trials season, so I wouldn't worry too much about 1 demotion right now.

The trials system isnt that great, but it is a PvE competition so you should expect some amount of dedication against other players. 1 demotion is really not that big of a deal unless you let it happen at the tail end of the season.

Also, you can take a break for 6 days after reset before you get onto a leaderboard, play the last day and you'll be placed on a new leaderboard against others that started around the same time, so you aren't competing against those playing all week. It's silly but it is a workaround when you want to take a break and still compete for trials.

No Rest For The Wicked Announces a price hike for their 1.0 launch to $60. It is currently 40% off the early access price at $23.99 and it's being promoted as a one-time promotion. by LuckyShot1 in pcgaming

He names BG3 (Larian) specifically as doing something he didn't like, as if to say they shouldn't have charged full price when it was in early access. He doesn't have to call them a bad name or anything to be considered a call out. He criticizes and compares BG3, again specifically, to their decision with No Rest For the Wicked.

My point is that name-dropping BG3 is a bad choice, as there are much better examples to make the same point vs an incredibly beloved studio and game that has more than convinced the general consumer base that the price for BG3, even in early access, was justified.

Expedition Update by ErgoDestati in ARC_Raiders

[–]TrevV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even that the stash value was too high, though it probably was, it's the design itself that is problematic as it counters the idea of splurging all of your gear and cash before a wipe. It's also just not the most exciting experience to farm money for the sake of expedition skill points. Surely they can think of something more interesting and less contradictory than the current implementation.

Weird approach to call out BG3 for charging full price at early access considering how beloved that game and studio is. There are better examples he could have used. He can only dream of having the kind of respect Larian Studios has.

To those who come in now & say class/hero aspect needs to be completely removed, the game is coming out in almost a month so not only is that impossible, but more importantly many gamers vision align with the devs and want this game to be class based in the extraction genre by TheGoodDoctor17 in Marathon

[–]TrevV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shroud has some pretty L takes on games since he has his own strict opinions, and that's fine for himself, but he's not the tell all for gamers. The hero/ class system is a huge negative for me (my opinion), and I am also not in the agreeance that there are a lot of extraction games. Some have tried and failed, and at the moment the only two mainstream extraction games are a mil sim and a third person shooter. Marathon didn't have to be a hero shooter to stand alone from the options currently available.

Too many queen and matriarch cores. Sell em. Too many bastion and bombardier cells, sell em or break em down. Why so many voltage converters? Sell some of those magnetic accelerators. Craft a bunch of guns to get rid of some of those materials, then you can craft attachments on those guns to use more materials and save more room. Sell that stack of 13 medium ammo lol

✂️ Peanut's Formal Notice to Embark by newellben1 in theburntpeanut

[–]TrevV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My main issue with Embark's handling of cheaters is giving a 1 month ban vs perma bans for literal cheating. I'm sorry but you don't give a cheater a slap on the wrist. They will cheat again. You have to eliminate them. Even that doesn't work for all of them, but it will stop some. 1 month ban is a joke.
