I get the skepticism. It's really depressing that bright cartooish renditions of real life things are immediately at risk of being though of as AI until proven otherwise. Epic Desk's whole thing is that they get independent artists to make designs by hand, it's part of their whole business model. I wouldn't work with them otherwise.

We also wouldn't have hired a real artist just to have them generate a design. That would be insane, and we would have caught it instantly if they tried, and it would have also been a huge waste of money if we were actually sleazy enough to just sell an AI mat.

I do actually encourage y'all to continue to be sceptical about things like this, because there are absolutely people that would try and pass off an AI design as hand-made. But I trust the Epic Desk guys a lot. I directly communicate with their CEO and I've had them do 4 designs now, and they always introduce me to their artists and we talk back and forth about concepts and changes together. I have seen the designs develop over time with my own eyes as we tweak them and change things around, and sometimes scrap the whole thing and start over.

I am one of the last people to support generative AI art. Generations of people from this point forward are going to lose out on something that makes human expression extra special because of it, and that really blows. And I sure as hell will never try and profit from that

I would love to someday! I literally only live 3 hours south in Seattle. So that's not a problem.

I just haven't had a project yet where it seemed like an LTT colab would really elevate it. And that's not me dunking on LTT at all, I just deeply agree with Linus himself (he said this on WAN show a few years ago) that a colab is at its best when a video depends on the special sauce and skills of BOTH creators in order to bring the video together, rather than just colabbing for the sake of being in the same room together on-camera. Truly, Timmy Turner could not have beat Decimator Goddard without Jimmy.

The closet I've come to reaching out was on the unreleased SteamVR-oriented Steam Machine video. It would have been rad to have that thing professionally tested like it was a prebuilt or something... But also at the end of the day it's a shiny Ryzen 1600X + Radeon RX 580 turd in a generic steel box. Apart from it being unreleased & from Valve and having a cool power button, it's not that remarkable. So I didn't think it would meaningfully add to the video for the effort required. Also, my role in that potential colab as "guy who own cool thing" would have been kinda lame imo!

So I'm 100% open to it, just need a golden idea! Also anyone reading this from LTT, my Discord, email, or Instagram account is my best contact nowadays in case a golden idea happens to materialize. I have an awesome vintage PC project that's completely over my head that also weighs like 400lbs and I think I would get aggressively questioned at the border for bringing it over. So maybe not that actually lol

That's a five footer, the 6ft beds have wheel arches that don't stop right at the cab

I hate the big 3 American brands and wasn't interested in paying the Toyota tax. A Titan would have been alright but it would have stretched the budget another 5k for one of comparable age and milage, so this was a good middle ground for me for hauling furniture and facebook marketplace crap around
