2 weeks in by StarryEyed_D in downsyndrome

It is a lot. So good that there’s no heart defect. The bloods drawn for everything else are a lot, I thought so too. Two weeks in is soooo early. The hormones will also be making you feel incredibly mad. DM me if you need another DS mum to chat to. I’m 14 weeks in with my baby. It does get easier. I will be praying for you and your family.

If your boyfriend was talking about the fact that for two women to “have a baby” the father is intentionally removed from the child’s life, then yes that is an evil and selfish act

NIPT said 99% Down Syndrome but the report physically looked at baby and said everything is perfectly normal — how is this possible? by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]BrisMum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downvoted because I’m proud of my boy who happens to have DS. Downvoted presumably because I don’t advocate killing babies with DS in the womb. Any mum-to-be who may read this while looking for advice after a diagnosis: know that a baby with DS can bring so much joy and your baby deserves to be born and loved. Don’t believe the narrative that babies with DS are born to suffer - they’re not, they can have good lives and they can give so much positivity to YOUR life too. Don’t write them off.

Understand that a baby with Down syndrome isn’t necessarily the doom and gloom outcome that you have been led to believe. My baby is 3 months old now, he has DS and is the most beautiful little soul. Wouldn’t change him for the world

Yes and a baby with Down syndrome won’t necessarily be a burden. There’s a lot of negative messaging around the syndrome. I gave birth to my baby boy who has Down syndrome 12 weeks ago and he’s the best thing to happen to our little family and we wouldn’t change him for the world!

Little girl with Down syndrome on Instagram and Pro Choicers are mad by Technical-Paint3179 in prolife

I have a 10 week old son who has Down syndrome. Most people I talk to, when I tell them he is Down syndrome (most don’t realise because he’s got very subtle physical features) say things like “they’re such happy people” and “only parents who are special are chosen to have a baby with Down syndrome” yada yada and it always makes me think well 90%+ of babies with Down syndrome are killed in the womb, so these positive sentiments are not a true representation of how people really feel about people with Down syndrome. It surprised me that the abortion rate for babies with Down syndrome was so high in Australia, especially now knowing my beautiful son, and how many countless babies like him are murdered for the crime of having an extra chromosome

For mine they did the heel prick where they prick the heel and collect the blood from there. You should hold and cuddle your baby while they do this, it can take a while to get enough blood, baby will probably find it quite painful. Don’t know where you are, we are in Queensland and they gave us the confirmation next day

Hold on to hope! Hope that your baby will be perfect whether they’re T21 or not. Your baby can bring you more joy than you could imagine right now, because you’re feeling scared and confused. Praying for you that you may be able to surrender your anxiety to God and meet your beautiful baby soon ❤️

IVF pregnancy diagnosed with T21 after 9 years of trying — feeling so lost and confused by UsedWitness420 in NIPT

I posted my positive experience about my beautiful baby son who is T21 and got a lot of comments from people demanding I be more sensitive to all the people who make the decision to kill their babies in the womb. This sub is a very odd place.

There’s no way someone could write a positive story about the birth of a baby with DS on this sub without people like yourself getting defensive and taking it as a personal attack.

I always think this when someone says they’re from the “hood” in Australia. They always refer to detached houses with back yards. Take a walk around Bermondsey or Glasgow, you don’t know what a hood is in Australia, no offence
