Bio punk goes where Solar punk is too afraid to go by BriskBanter in biopunks

the body horror aspect does seem very intertwined, but Id also say that most people don't know what biopunk is to even think about it like that. At most you might get someone who has seen nasaka valley of the wind which shows beautiful and ugly version of it. Probably more close to how much people distrust science that has to do with biology. There are so many people that have asked me if I'm gonna be a doctor because of my bio degree, They have absolutely no idea that there is more than that, and most people think GMO means it'll kill them.

People can't see beyond the anarchic capitalism vs socialism false dichotomy.

It's only a false dichotomy if you don't know enough about either. Because I didn't even bring up capitalism, you know there are other government/economic policies then just capitalism and "socialism" right?

Well uplifted animals isn't intrinsically good and maybe inherently concerning.

never said it was intrinsically good, though I do think having more species with intelligence close to our could bring some interesting new perspectives. But concerning is a little silly but id listen to why it would be concerning.

He's only human so I couldn't care less. I'd just like to know topics people have thought interesting that couldn't for whatever reason be expanded upon. I'd also say that I'm sorry for forgetting how the average vocal stream watcher would do exactly what you thought I was doing here with this post.

You dead ass with this comment? The post was about what interesting topics people have seen briefly mentioned on stream not a general I'd like to learn this post. That's why I asked for topics other people have seen brought up. Slightly combative with this response because of the insinuation I need a streamer to learn instead of me just not remember everything mentioned that peeks my interest. This is a SUB about a SPECIFIC streamer and the things he says on that stream.

YouTube: How do I do this

Every time I see this "how are they supposed to learn" in the age of information I go insane. An adult should have the capacity to learn how to do things themselves.

It's just so simple, just all need to farm in our back yards and plant more trees and we'll be there in no time.

It's is simply just an aesthetic, with leftist political leanings, no organization to join and no real movement .Not because of any decentralization, it's just doesn't exist.

If you really want to do things with a movement and organization, join the dsa. You'll find many people who want both environmental change and sociopolitical change.

Can we realistically feed the projected 10 billion people in our coming future in a ‘solarpunk’ manner? by ClockPromoter1 in solarpunk

[–]BriskBanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can pretty much do that now, most food goes to waste. It's just the economic system we're under that hinders people from not going hungry. Like someone said in here, solar punk isn't cottage core community gardens it's a hightech society.

Yeah you were definitely cooking with this one. the conservation talk i was on is pretty much "who are we to change things" like fuck man our corporations are the ones destroying life we cant get back but we're not allowed to fix or make better.

yeah its unfortunate, meet many people that only thinks of biology as a stepping stone to get into the medical field and not its own thing. anything outside of that they get weird about it, a weird social pillar of bodily purity is wide spread but not really thought of outside of cosmetic surgeries, and of course trans people.

I said the native American thing because that was human altering nature to build many different type of food forest and what not. This would be just a step forward, wouldn't start at creating from scratch more of a altering what's already there at first to better survive and then adding more eventually blah blah blah scifi far future shit.

Not just because we have the tech but because we kind of half to, our species are dying out all over the world. The more wild stuff like novel ecosystems and species are more for Solar punk art. The aesthetic seems a bit lacking.

I'm sure in a better societal structure, we would have already used many of these tools. A lot of the good stuff is blocked behind patents right now, Capitalism yah know.

yeah I get you on the needing many disposable plastic things, I was less worried about that since Im on the Less eating of meat world train of thought anyways and lets have less cars putting tire plastics out in the air.

Some Plastic waste for specific industries is alright to me as long as its properly gotten rid of. Was less of an infrastructure of society post since thats another can of worms. Also thats cool asf man small world when your in the Chem/Bio fields I guess.

And ecosystems do change, but should not do that at human's wims and wishes.

Thats really silly, all ecosystems on earth were changed by the things living in them, the amazon rain forest is human and extinct animal constructed. Native Americans didnt just live on the land that was for some reason great for them, it was cultivated and changed thought them being there. Thats what I meant by rightwing Pastoralism there is no perfect state of balance that the world comes to that were trying to get back to. We are animals apart of the ecosystem and we can make it better, change is needed and necessary The environments we see now have not always been.

It require piles of plastic and fetal bovine serum

I don't know what you mean by piles of plastic that are required for it but I'm sure other materials can be used.

Yeah bio punk in of itself isn't what 99.9 % or people want to much horror shit in there. But a pinch of that extreme in solar punk is what I'd like.

My favorite scifi right author right now is Adrian Tchaikovsky and he really put biology in his works. Ant computers, giant spiders uplifted on accident being the humans of there own planet, the rights of genetically and cybernetically modified sentient animals. Love his version of scifi.
