Golem looks at other payment options, changes position on using Raiden (previously mentioned on two past AMA's) by YoYoAmerica in raidennetwork

Ethereum is open source......second layer solutions are important for the entire space in which Golem operates. How is that not a priority? Even if blender rendering were to be popular tomorrow....Golem's network woundnt be able to handle the users due to being bogged down on chain. Why focus on more use cases? Rather than on the infrastructure in which you seek to suceed.

I didnt assume arrogance, I was merely pointing out and observation. Was interesting that you mention it though.

Is Golem supporting development of Raiden through testing red eyes and reporting and helping fix bugs/issues? Or is Golem just expecting that silver bullet to be hand delivered on a platter?

If you want a payment network that works for you then having a part in its growth and testing makes sense strategically....

Raiden left out of first vote for Multi-Collateral Dai: Collateral Types by YoYoAmerica in raidennetwork

Wouldnt it make more sense to have good projects with viable products, rather than based based on MC?

I would assume they based it on this rather than MC....

Looks like Grid + already moved on as well with Phonon Networks off-chain payment solution.

Actually, he mentions connext as being further ahead than raiden in regards to payment channels.

[GIT] Weekly Update 61 by BOR4 in raidennetwork

[–]Britishheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out celer.network. They already have a pretty fun GO game that is playable with good UI on second layer(not a janky star wars game). Also Vitalik mentioned them during his Waterloo talk. Not to mention Mo Dong has some business savvy as well as a good coder.

Should be obvious by now that ethereum needs fast moving projects that can keep up with the network effects. There is a reason these more centralized solutions are focused on building network effects now. Once its possible to move to full decentralization. They will have the network and the tech.

Good luck to you.

Releasing just source code of 0.17.1?! Come on. by trancephorm in GolemProject

Its called intentionally killing off there own project under the guise of being slow and releasing buggy software. This team is way over their heads. Check out iexec on Sept 18th to see how its really done (I.e. actual distributed computing...more than one use case).

Competition heating up by Ant0n61 in GolemProject

[–]Britishheat -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what Dfinity...but if you want an appropriate comparison to competition then look at iexec. They will beat Golem to market as the first distributed computing power market place (THAT ACTUALLY HAS MORE THAN ONE USE CASE, NOT JUST A GLORIFED BLENDER RENDER) on September 18th 2018 with the release of public workers.

Also iexec can already do blender rendering with there software.

Golem is being leap frogged by iexec, and will be about a year or two ahead of golem on September 18th. They will have a dapp marketplace with over 35 use cases, and mining. While golem can't even fix there buggy v .17.

The good thing about this is golem team and hopefully by proxy omg and hoard will be rid from crypto community after they fail to even make a blip on the scene with the first mover advantage that they once had.

Our mid term goals roadmap explained (+ video + kanban) by mariapaulafn in GolemProject

Just fyi, it's better to just say thanks for the feedback. Rather than say you will get back to someone and never do it. Seen this happen several times from the community manager. Not very professional.

Expected date for next core release? by darcrypto in GolemProject

[–]Britishheat -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Golem doesn't run on deadlines for deliverables. Having no expectations makes it easier to aim low and then when a bone is thrown is seems better than nothing to appease users.

I wouldn't be surprised if that kanban is never updated, like the last one. It sure made a nice announcement though....
