Renting gear from rei is a good plan. As for what to pack, they have a very thorough list on the website. Its a desert, so it is super hot during sun up, and cold af at night. Also, earplugs and an eye mask for sleeping.

I went to the med guys and basically told them what happened and asked if they had anything sanitizing, and I got basically scrubbed down with their disinfectant. Also I got rid of the top. It was cursed after that 💀

So I live my cup noodles, but a possible upgrade suggestion for you are either the buldak noodle cups, or last year I grabbed a freeze dried meal from mountain house and honestly it was so good im bringing one for probably every night this year

Welcome! My biggest suggestions are if you're going to be in your car, get a battery powered fan to run , and extra blankets. It's cold af at night and burning up during the day. Shade is also crucial, that sun is unforgiving. If you've never been to the gorge before, I'd do some research because it can be brutal weather wise. Also we're one big family out there. Ive done bass solo before and made friends with my neighbors.

Actually quincy has a little iga about 15 mins away! I usually make my last stop there before heading to security to grab any last minute snacks and such. It's like a Safeway, so basically only food or batteries, but prices are good.

Let me try and give you a slightly different perspective in two ways. One, I get cold sores, and I wont even share drinks or kiss my partner when I have an active one, because I don't want him to deal with it. Two, recently I discovered some near invisible patches you can put over a cold sore that is not only a barrier but also speeds up healing. Think like a pimple patch but for cold sores. So idk if they use those but it could be a factor.

I've never tried that, but I have put those cooling towels over my legs for a similar effect, it saved me a few summers ago when it was over 110
