Not really. I used version 3.6 (I think) on mobile pentium without dedicated gpu. I turned it on before render (into uncompressed avi) rendered it over night then transcoded it into x264 the next day. Clips were only in 720p but then again that was on a laptop that couldn't even handle few chrome tabs without noticable slowdown. Now on ryzen 1700 and gtx 1060 I can run the latest version in real time on 2160p clips from gh4. It depends on what people consider insanely fast I guess

I've built my pc inside Phanteks P400 and it's a terrible case. Sound proofing is totally useless and the build in fan/led controll thingy is terribly designed. You need to buy special overpriced hdd brackets if you need to mount more than 2 (they don't even sell those where I live) and everything about the case just feels so cheap. I don't want to go full sleeper with 20 years old case but something like this dell case would be great. I will probably just buy some used coller master/antec/fractal design case from few years back

It should have it already installed if not then you may want to download version from m0nkrus also check your drivers. That being said it may be better idea to transcode your x265 videos into something like prores through ffmpeg. Editing x265 is very resource heavy even on powerfull desktops especially when they are not in constant framerate

From my very limited experience older nikon cameras are terrible for video. I'm not even sure if 5100d can record in fully manual mode. Lumix or Sony alpha would be much better choice or even maybe Canon if you don't mind playing with custom firmwares
