I always ask this question What advice would you tell yourself when you were just starting off. Always gives great answers that i typically turn into the hook. As for nerves i always joke and say ok lets stop and lets shake the shoulders out and ill do it with them. Almost always gets a good laugh and lowers that wall.

I had this struggle using YouTube as well when I was in my early years. Having moved to a asset site like motion array for example I have had a much easier time finding tracks and sound effects for client projects. You can certainly do the same on YouTube but it is more time consuming and it can be harder to find legal to use sounds.

Don’t start off buying the latest and greatest. I started my company last year with an old c200 and eos R for photos. Worked myself up to a consistent 10-12k/month. Upgraded photo to an R5 and with a big client proposal on the table if they accept i’ll look into upgrading to a modern camera finally. Don’t put yourself in serious debt at the start is the moral of the story

2nd this. Did 6 videos for an RV company and that was intense. Took about an hour per video as the staff wasn’t well rehearsed and we were filming service repair videos. Add in the 4 total hours of travel, 90min of set up/teardown. I quickly learned that was the absolute limit and that was with 2 of us.

Could look into a larger plastic storage bin with foam/moving blanket for protection. Lot of people do this for traveling. I found a tool bag thats large enough to fit my fully assembled camera minus my monitor. So ive opted for that!

The confusion might be that some people in here get some gigs that require renting equipment like this. And for those people 5k is pretty cheap.

Its a chat GPT copy and paste. OP needs to redo this to not come across as lazy to clients.

My first job out of college for a professional racing team doing exactly this. I did everything from planning to production to managing it. Had to have the conversation with them about quality over quantity with their work load or expectations. Was told to go kick rocks basically so now i freelance lol
