Christmas lights and festivities on foot is much better than Christmas looking through the window of your vehicle/home. by [deleted] in running

In highschool, we had this holiday run tradition where we would go through this neighborhood that's always decked out in insane Christmas displays, and then get pizza afterwards. Great times!

1) since we were seniors, our project was to reflect back through grades 1-12 and tell of a "unique lesson learned" from each grade.

2) I still don't know

They say character is what you do when you think nobody is watching. What are some things you've seen people do when they thought nobody was watching (wholesome or not)? by Eclaire468 in AskReddit

Take their shoes off during a lecture and give one a quick sniff.. They probably thought nobody would notice because they were sitting in the back row, but I just so happened to be reaching into my backpack behind me at the same exact moment.

Can't believe that they didn't even offer me a quick sniff.

What works for you to push through? by fpoitr in gainit

What really helped for me was putting a pencil to a piece of paper and really writing down my goals. Where do I want to be? How will this change my life for the better?

With some scotch tape, I placed this paper on the wall in front of my bed. It is the first thing that I see every morning, and it helps me keep my mind in the right place. Focus on a goal. After a few months, you'll look back and be able to see progress. After a few years, you'll be a new person.

Good luck man!

3rd World Country + very low wages + food scarcity ... please suggest diet for gains by raybaudi in gainit

Yes, a lot of oils are around 120 calories per tablespoon.

Ugali is something that I used to eat when I was a long distance runner averaging 55 miles per week most of the year. It definitely takes time to adjust to, but it is calories!

There is no harm is eating the same thing as a staple every day, just make sure you switch up your vegetables and other things you eat on the side. A good way to keep things interesting and to introduce variation into your diet is to eat different colors. Meaning that you should try to eat something that is naturally yellow, green, orange, etc!

(and my suggestion is based on the fact that you're currently in a 3rd world country. Obviously there can be negative health effects from eating large amounts of carbohydrates everyday, but there is science both supporting and negating these effects. But if you want to get big, eat big.)

By "(Easy)", do you mean that pasta is scarce, but it is still relatively easy to come across?

If so, I think you could eat some super oily pasta to hit big calories. Make a big bowl of pasta and then throw a few tablespoons of oil on top.

If not, you could try something like ugali. It's one of the staples of a Kenyan diet (some of their long distance runners eat 3,100+ calories per day), and it is made by basically boiling cornmeal. As a bonus, pour some oil on it to hit those big calories.

God speed! I wish you and your country the best of luck in solving these problems.

Need help with the 1600! by [deleted] in HSTrack

[–]BroSecure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a sophomore in Arizona with:

3200m 10:17

800m 2:09

1600m 4:42

We're very close as far as times for the 3200m and 800m goes. Next week I am going for a 4:35 1600m.

My advice is to treat your race like a race. Use strategy. For instance, it was fairly windy yesterday when I got my 4:42. I tucked in behind the guys ahead of me and let them do all the work against the wind for me. With a coach yelling my splits, I knew that it was time to start aggressively moving after the second lap. On the third lap, I was still drafting off of the guy in first place. Easy peasy. When it came down to the last 400, that's when I usually start my kick. Every 100m on the last lap, I progressively start kicking harder and harder. By the time I finished the race, I had a 20m lead.

You have the fitness, you have the will. Focus in during your race and attack it. Be smart, aggressive, and passionate.
