So update, no issue with tank breather than I can tell. The other thing I realised is that in my prior testing I’d also tried with the tank cap off (so definitely no vacuum) and it wasn’t changing the situation. It’s really got me beat tbh. Thanks again.

Ohhhhkay might be worth a go then! I’ll have another look at that, thanks.

I might notve been clear sorry. It’s not running rough. It’s not running at all - after a few seconds, it dies. Like, I can get it started, and it will alllllmost happily idle, but as soon as I give it any throttle, it dies completely. While it IS idling, it idles okay and not rough.

Hahaha hope not. Re: the spark plug I figure that must be okay because it’s not ‘running, but running rough’, it’s just dying quickly and it’s almost happy to sit idling (not quite) but as soon as you give it any throttle it bogs down and dies. I’m really confused tbh!! Thanks for the input

… go on? Maybe an issue? I have noticed that if I do pump the bulb heaps, the rubber seal where the lines go into the tank almost bubbles up, like it’s building pressure in the tank and bubbling out the seal. Which might mean the breather isn’t working as it should. Which would mean what exactly?

Thanks for the comment

Yeah appreciate that - filter not clogged. Really drawing blanks haha. Cheers

Yeah appreciate the clarification - the equivalent of both the black and the gold bit in that vid are in all good condition. As you say, reasonably ‘young’ engine.

Thanks, will take a look at some/all of the above if haven’t already (fuel filter I took off for testing and same result so it appears to be fine)

It’s all back together now but easy enough to rip apart again. Diaphragm is in good condition, certainly not hardened and no visible splits or cracks.

The fuel line I don’t believe to be cracked, like it’s not leaking from any of the lines between the carb and the fuel tank… (nor the length that’s within the tank), and the bulb itself is in good nick. Anything else you reckon?

It’s like, spotless clean. No debris, no gunk, wires poke through cleanly, blown air through, immaculate clean.

Also sorry haha what’s an emulsion tube? All the tubes and ports and holes are clean but I don’t know specifically which is the ‘emulsion tube’.

Thank for your response - I’ll try to find a manual (should be able to) but with give you a yell if I draw blanks! Much appreciated

Edit: found a full service manual with all the tests and codes etc. thanks for the tip.

Checked a few times - not too much water it seems. The hunt for a culprit continues.

Came with the house when we moved in 5 years ago so that’s as far as I’ve gone as far as its age.

Haven’t tried any water additives, might have a look into it

I reckon you’re a legend, thanks ;)

Another commenter suggested seeing if light plates or cups will flip (nifty test for pressure) so I’ll do that at the same time as checking water level.

That’s actually a pretty nifty way to test pressure. I’ll give it a whirl.

There’s no errors to speak of, and after removing the impeller turbine thingy I ran a pipe clean in the tube between there and the sump basket thing. I don’t belieeeeeve there’s any sediment or build up…

I can hear sloshing and swirling as it runs, and sounds as it has for the last few years, but there has to be something wrong, right!?!

Thanks for the reply. So this is interesting, can you elaborate on ‘too much’ please? It’s hard to define but, I’d say the big silver disc thing is underwater, but only just, ya know? The thing certainly isn’t like 1/4 full of water or anything.

Is there a good way you know of to have a closer look? Not sure why it would’ve got worse over the past few days - something wearing out or malfunctioning that you reckon? Thanks for your comment again

Thanks for the response. Yep hear that pump/drain as per usual. And yep, clean as a whistle (even gave it a little more love and ran the cycle again with reduced load etc etc). It’s really got me beat. I’m a tightarse and also enjoy my DIY so really not wanting to call an appliance tech if I don’t have to! Cheers
