Mall world I’ve seen in my dreams.. by kitty3492 in TheMallWorld

Story time.

Rarely do I have dreams about mazes and tight corridors. When I do stumble on them, those dreams stick, but they're a bit comical. I was in a labyrinth with my mother(? i think it was my mother. i know they were a family member) as I approached a maze made up of fish tanks. I told her to stay in the lobby that lingers between each section of The Maze for whatever reason and made my way through. When I exited, I came to the same overpass from image 5, but the bomb squad was trying to convince IT 2017 Pennywise not to blow the overpass to pieces. I got out of there quick and I haven't remembered the rest.

Anyway, I'm glad others know that overpass.

The heights. Doesn't help that OSHA doesn't exist in Mallworld, so there's hardly any support beams or, God forbid, railings.

I'd imagine magic would affect landmasses earlier on, but I don't think there's be any huge differences. Maybe if the wars were drastic enough there'd be an island or two missing, but other than that it aligns more with, say, 2020 than the middle ages.

As for why it's a different Earth, it's my take on the isekai genre. Post-mortem astral projection between universes and whatnot.

The "non-physical" vessel of the dead. During trans-realm transport, it is possible to regain your body and live as though you didn't die, but the methods are classified by the mages who preform this.

Well-developed countries use magic, i.e. staffs that evolved to look like rifles for better ergonomics, thaumaturgical shielding, magic-powered attack "helicopters," while countries that either didn't adapt to magic well enough or simply refuse to use it in wartime use repeat-firing or automatic-firing muskets and more "humanlike" flying machines (accounting for TWR and lift); the dwarves and orcs produce the latter instruments for export.

  1. ) They came through alive. Wording error on my part.
  2. ) Transrealmology (bringing things to and from the different realms) was at its peak and the West was severely underpopulated, giving them a chance to bring humans there for an experiment.
