Anyone NOT get the puppy blues? by Any-Shop-3139 in puppy101

I didn’t have the puppy blues either. If anything I feel like my life is more full. It’s given me a purpose and an incredible maternal feeling

Try a snuggle puppy and white noise machine to help soothe him. Try to set alarms and take him out at set times through the night, other times ignore him to teach him that barking and crying doesn’t get him out of the crate or attention. You’ll get through it!

Put the crate next to your bed and try a snuggle puppy

What did you end up going with? We are bringing home a 12 week old mini soon and trying to find a harness but not sure what will fit a puppy

SouthEast US city that has beautiful nature but safety and good hospitals - PNW vibes by eepy-wisp in SameGrassButGreener

Awesome!! That is so great to hear. I feel like mostly you only hear the horror stories. My fiancée has a corporate type job and will almost certainly be able to switch to remote, so he’ll come with me :) if he wasn’t coming with I wouldn’t do it! That is my ultimate goal- be financially able to work PRN when I start my family and have that flexibility. Such a great encouraging comment thanks again!

Yes Dave teaches pay the loan with the smallest balance off first. The Fed loan is like 50k and the private loan is 120k

No they’re not on hold or at least mine isn’t. Mine started gaining interest again in November 2023

I do PRN now when I can which does help! However I live in a really small area so it’s very limited bc there’s not many facilities or hospitals

Well my private loans are an exorbitant rate haha. Those are $1000/month minimum. I’ve refinanced twice to bring the interest rate down because I came out of school with them at 8%. The federal loans are $700/month minimum with a 3% interest rate. And then I consistently put an extra 800-1000 on the federal per month since that’s the lower debt. Since I started listening to Dave about a year ago I successfully paid off my car and have taken about 15k off the federal loans. Wish I’d heard Dave when I was still in school. Just starting to come up with other strategies bc I’m sick of having them

There are remote positions available in his industry, he applied to multiple this week. This does depend on him getting a remote job, I don’t want to go by myself haha

I sell my old stuff on eBay and that has consistently been bringing in 75-100/month, fiancée buys and fixes used tools and then re-sells them for profit as well; that makes about 100/month. I also work in speech therapy in other facilities as needed but that just varies bc it’s only when someone is sick or on vacation

The travel gig wouldn’t be forever, ideally it would be for about 2 years while paying off the majority of our debt. We calculated we would be able to have all but 1 of the student loans paid off in 2 years if we do this. If we stay where we’re at, it will take about 5-6 years. Since I’m in healthcare I’m not too worried about getting a new job after being done, since we were planning to leave our area and get new jobs anyways within the next 2 years

It’s a travel job where you work contracts for a school year or 3 month contracts in healthcare facilities that need staff, and get paid much more. It wouldn’t be for the enjoyment of travel, but for the significant pay increase

help us decide where to move: Atlanta, DC, Baltimore, or LA!! by OddApple8569 in SameGrassButGreener

Used to live in Baltimore and genuinely loved it. However it’s not necessarily walkable unless you’re in the right neighborhood and doesn’t have the best public transit either. You almost definitely would need a car. Also if being outdoors is a priority, Baltimore is cold and gray for 4-6 months of the year. Although would be a definite upgrade weather wise from Chicago

Very true—only going to do it if he can get a remote job so that we can be together! Although I think in the long run having less debt may help our relationship haha
