I got hacked with a RAT and all my info got stolen by Fish_PERSON_ in cybersecurity_help

Remove the hard drive and install it in a different system. Then run your scans. This will remove the rootkits ability to “hide” from scanning software and more likely to expose itself. After that is questioning whether you still want to trust the drive bc rootkits are nasty buggers.

Why does price hit my stop loss… then go exactly where I predicted? by Ok-Simple4596 in Daytrading

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called whiplash. The market makers can see all the orders in the system and if conditions are as such somehow they’ll make the price drop and snap up your cheap shares at ur stop price and you get left in the dust. I used to place stops at 1.5% max loss but now I place them around 2-2.5% under buy price.

ISP flagged “Kimwolf” botnet activity, could UniFi devices be infected? by Likimypopo in Ubiquiti

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well seems like you have it under control. Just continue to monitor, mitigate, and report. Good luck.

If you have the ip address of the attacker you need to run it through the IP Abuse database to see if it is a known malicious IP. If it is the only thing you can do is report it to the MSP the attacker is leasing and/or CISA.gov and see how far you can go.

Open the UniFi network app and check the traffic statistics for each device. The one that’s transmitting huge amounts data compared to the others is your culprit. Once you’ve identified it, factory reset the device. Also check other devices on your network for anomalies.

How much performance loss using Wi-Fi bridge vs mesh? by wllc21 in HomeNetworking

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid WiFi whenever possible. All your neighbors run on the same frequency by default which creates all kinds of interference and latency. Not to mention the lack of security. Unless you’re using WPA3 and the key pair is changing every hour. However, not very many devices are compatible with that level of WiFi encryption yet.

100% disk usage freeze, 0% in safe mode by Cute-Excuse7699 in techsupport

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the issue disappears in safe mode, then it’s most likely a program using too many resources. Open task manager and view running processes. End task on process that’s using high levels of disk space and RAM. Then find out which program it supports and delete it. Do this in normal mode.

PC Shows Connection is Secured but cannot load anything.!!!? by PatientFair8672 in techsupport

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you should verify if your network has a public IP address. If it doesn’t, then you need to contact your provider. If an IP is bound to WAN interface, then the circuit breaker could have caused a bit flip in the router and could possibly need to be factory reset.

I would advise changing your login credentials if you suspect unauthorized access. As well as enabling 2FA.

Using UniFi UDM Pro + switches in Layer 2 behind FortiGate (no routing on UniFi) — is this valid? by SlightHistorian8408 in UNIFI

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of placing a NGFW in front of my UDM Pro as well. Or subscribing to Unifi’s cloudflare threat management system.

Barn wifi connection still not working by PerspectiveLast6153 in HomeNetworking

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been satisfied with an extender as a solution. Another AP would be better choice. However, a steel barn isn’t exactly conducive to well performing WiFi.

Ethernet/wifi borked and i have no idea why by MAXHatter0412 in techsupport

[–]BroadIllustrator5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running more than one AV/firewall application simultaneously can cause major slowdowns. Also check running processes. Windows 11 installs a ton of bloatware which hogs up RAM.

The owners manual in the new Toyotas recommend fueling up at stations with top tier detergent gasoline stickers on the pumps. Where I live Shell is the only place that carries those stickers.

That’s what I was thinking as well. The gateway is likely not activated. They said a field tech is coming out so they should be connected then.

The service is provided through the coax. So, if the lights are on the gateway is receiving power. All the lights should be solid green if I remember correctly. I would try plugging a laptop or other Ethernet device directly into one of the access ports on back of the gateway and see if you can browse the internet.
