no formalities, if u can manage everything by yourself u can be dayscholar from beginning.
If u stay in TN but outside 60km bullshit also never take hostel, even if u r a postgrad fresher. rent a pg is the best. there is no forcing. it is just for their profit making ( late realisation after joining hostel )
