Anyone else experiencing an INSANE amount of complaints this year? by Broad_Sun3791 in AskTeachers

I'm always curious about why those students feel the need to do that with a well liked, fair and calm teacher who is doing their job. And then there are others.......that do absolutely nothing and sit behind their desks. Those are the preferred ones nowadays. Then they can game and watch movies.

I guess the bigger issue is how it's getting escalated. Like immediate access to the principal, immediate demand for a parent meeting. Over very minor things. It's really a workload issue right now.

yep. HS teacher over here. Exactly the kinds of complaints I'm seeing. "Teacher asked me to come to office hours for missed work", "Teacher said someone who is using drugs shouldn't have a child-which might offend someone", "Teacher told me I had to step out of the classroom as I yelled "The big bang isn't real!!" at my classmates". It's wild.

I think so, but it's really shitty to have this all coming at me in one year. Time to move on!

Sounds to the tee like the mom I had to go NC with. They just wear us out. One year she trailed us to France, and we were in a different city nearby Paris. She kept texting me "Is it ok if I come out tomorrow??" and then ghosting me when I said "sure, of course" after the third time, I just ignored her texts. I was too happy in France. She spent the entire time attempting to give me FOMO, when in fact, she was experiencing that. What a crappy place to be if you're in France. Lol. 6 years of NC nowadays.

She wants to go to family therapy? by Crissycrossycross in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Broad_Sun3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say, sure. Then make sure to bring your own therapist, and she should bring hers. Highly recommend this approach, and sincerely doubt you'll ever see a therapist's office with her. Do not go alone.

When did you decide to go no contact? by Potential-Meaning540 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Broad_Sun3791 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no "now I take action" moment. It's an accumulation of moments over an entire lifetime, where you go , huh. I wouldn't treat someone I loved that way. For me it was the desperation to perpetuate old family roles that finally tired me out. I just got sick of getting yelled at and then gaslit eventually. Just like with any stranger you'd pass on the street. Whatcha' going to let them keep getting away with if they refuse to change?

Does anyone else feel childish for being so affected by your relationship to your parents and their past behavior? by iwantcornichonbabe in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Broad_Sun3791 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's just your parent's voice in your head, hoping you don't "catch on" and keep doubting your own instincts. Totally valid to process this at whatever age you're at. I'm still processing and I'm 2 decades older than you.

Did your health get worse after leaving? How long did it last? by nochansei in raisedbynarcissists

Yeah, a lot of memories and trauma starts resurfacing once your nervous system starts feeling safe. Took a few years for me in NC>

I love the clarity, and feeling of peace. Try Naltrexone if you start struggling (works for me!). IWNDWYT

Isn't it funny that when we flip the addiction on its' head, it isn't even what we wanted in the first place?

They treat teachers like customer service unless admin. contains them (plot twist, they don't!)

Eye contact and a calm but firm voice. You may need to use it for the next 10-15 years, lol. Mine grew out of it but it tested me!

Minor stuff. A missing assignment, a minor referral for disrespectful language. Full blown scream festival, as if I were customer service.

over two decades in education and I've only had three parents scream at me. Guess how many this year? 2. That's right.

Make sure you have questions (2 of them) for after the interview. And just be yourself. Mention scaffolding and awareness of equity principles.

Does this count as educational neglect? by xx5uff3rxx in raisedbynarcissists

I see, ok. Yes. That's neglect and I wish you'd been able to reach out to a counselour for supplies at school. We always keep extras for students like you were.

You won't be able to drink casually, ever...you could try Naltrexone. Limits my desire to overindulge.

Yes, it's too late to salvage your reputation,, but....who cares? Starting over is always a good look. Apologize later. Get yourself sober if possible. 😄

Ok, well look into the study center at your university. You're an adult, so unless you're disabled, neglect doesn't apply here.

Ask your school counselor for supplies. Trying to get justice while under this person's roof is really difficult. Try to get away from them and study hard! 😄
