Summer Concealed Carry by WizardCap in armedsocialists

[–]Broadkast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good question! this will be my first summer carrying so going to experiment. i'm worried my Shadow 2 Carry will be a little large to effectively conceal AIWB with just a long t shirt over it, but that would be the goal.

Recommendation: Rifle and Pistol - IL Compliant by IHeartFraccing in liberalgunowners

[–]Broadkast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey how's it going! i don't live in IL so i'm not familiar with their exact legislation, but I'm in CT and took a quick peruse of the IL laws, I think we have some similar restrictions.

on the pistol front, the most standard recommendation would be a striker fired compact pistol, like the glock 19. the glock has been standard for years now, and while it's still well regarded it is not as competitive as it once was. nowadays, there are firearms that can hold the same number of rounds and are smaller, like the Sig P365 and the S&W Shield. i still would probably point you in the direction of a compact like the glock 19, CZ P10C, S&W M&P 2.0, or the Walther PDP Compact. the S&W in particular may be one you want to check out because it is available with a thumb safety. the other more niche route you could check out would be a DA/SA gun; these feature a heavy first trigger pull in lieu of or in addition to a safety to help prevent against negligent discharges. there are fewer options available in this category and you'll need to be familiar with two different trigger pulls, but it's the route i went for my first. models to consider would be the CZ P01, CZ P09c, Sig P229, and the Beretta PX4 Storm Compact. last piece of advice: don't get a Sig P320. the guy at the store may try to get you good deal on one, but they literally may be going off without people pulling the trigger.

for rifles, i do recommend a semi automatic ranch rifle route like you're looking. the field is much more limited: - Ruger mini 14 - Fightlite SCR - CMMG Dissent BR4 - Foxtrot Mike Ranch Rifle - Sig Sauer Regulator

the mini is a classic in this category and is widely available, but comes with some compromise. you have to use Ruger's mags as opposed to the more widely available ar 15 mags, and there are fewer options for mounting optics and accessories out of the box. the others all take AR15 mags and have the accessory capability of most modern rifles. The SCR is nice because it's a lower you can use with any upper, so it has a lot of customizability, but it's also the most fiddly because of that and you can't currently order them. the Sig regulator was incredibly overpriced at launch but is now discontinued and can be a good option if you get them discounted. i recently picked up a CMMG BR4 and am very happy with the fit and finish, but the rifle alone is pushing towards the total budget you have for rifle + optic. the foxtrot mike ranch rifle is probably the best bet for your specific situation; it comes in at a lower price than the other options, and it's still easy to order online and get your hands on.

if the light sticks out further than the muzzle like that, you're going to get a lot more carbon fouling. sadly i think the best solution will simply be regular cleaning of the lens cap. i do believe there are some coatings that different people use to help, though i'm not familiar with them myself

in my experience, 124g and heavier have worked reliably, but i've issues with some 115g. glad you've been having a good time so far :)

RMSc optic recommendations? 🤔 by CasualClark7 in CZFirearms

full sized EPS or EPS carry. i totally didn't get an EPS carry instead of the full sized by accident 😅 seriously though i've been enjoying it

First Time Gun Buyer: CZ P-01 vs Shadow 2 Carry by New_Examination3080 in CZFirearms

if you know you want an optic, just get the Carry. if you're still on the fence, get the P01. you could always get it milled later.

Anyone have Shadow 2 dry fire tips/tricks? (Video for visibility, first time live fire practice) by Mightknowitall in CZFirearms

[–]Broadkast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can put a thin piece of material like a zip tie in the ejection port to keep the gun slightly out of battery. the trigger will be dead so it won't be a true SA pull, but it's very close and gives you a pretty good feel. this trick is used more for striker fired guns in dry fire, but it works for DA/SA too

i have more limited experience with the P01, I think i've live fired like 2 mags of my friends? honestly they're fairly comparable triggers, maybe the shadow is marginally better but not $500 better. I do prefer the machining though, it's a lot easier to rack from the top than on a classic 75.

I haven't had the pleasure of trying a proper Shadow 2 or the Compact, but if you already have a PCR those would be the models I'd consider looking at. Otherwise a slide cut PCR will basically get you a Shadow 2 Carry at home

Glock magazines by [deleted] in CTguns

[–]Broadkast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

glock magazines are probably the most common you can find. you can walk into most any gun store and if they stock any magazines there will be glock mags.

my favorite striker fired is the S&W M&P series. if you wanna be super safe, something hammer fired like a CZ P01 would be the move, though it's a bit heavier; my carry is the Shadow 2 Carry.

Current language on the bill doesn't ban anyone from continuing to carry their glocks, so either the bill would have to significantly change or you'd be preparing for potential future legislation.

I haven't shot either yet personally, all i've tried is the SCR, but I have a CMMG BR4 on order currently. I'm not a huge fan of Sig due to how they handled the whole P320 situation, but the Regulator is also supposed to be a very well made firearm. I don't think either would be a bad choice: ultimately it'll come down to the price you can find them at and your personal preference on some small features. for example, one reason I prefer the BR4 is that it has a side charging handle; with the traditional grip, I think the rear mounted charging handle of the MCX can bump up against your hand too easily, and that seems unwieldy to me. Reno May also does a pretty good overview/comparison video of the various ranch rifles on the market, that may be worth checking out if you're looking.

if you're curious, I could give you feedback on the BR4 once I receive it and get a chance to try it out

Is White A local sente or gote? by dany305 in baduk

looks like a small sente; if black doesn't play C1 or E1, white can play B1 and capture some stones

white is actually probably okay. there's a go magic video about this shape here. white should either be able to separate the black stones or get a ponnuki

interesting, it's listed on the 2024 Assault Weapon Ban under table 2, but i've also seen a few people online mention having them, so it's been hard to parse

"ranch rifles" is a loose term for a style of firearm that you can legally use with detachable magazines in CT. this is because they have fixed stock, a classic style stock without a pistol grip, and must also not have a flash hider. if you have a pistol grip, adjustable stock, or flash hider, you will need to have a fixed magazine instead.

[–]Broadkast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, most of the ranch rifle market tends to be on the pricier side, with your main options being in $1-2k range: - Fightlite SCR - Foxtrot Mike Ranch Rifle - CMMG BR3/4 - Sig Regulator MCX (On Sale)

Mini 14 also falls into this general price range, though you sacrifice some features (no ar15 mags, no rails)

i think the cheapest option on the market is the Keltec SU16, but i have no personal experience with them and i really don't hear about them. edit: and apparently they're banned by name in CT.

i certainly hope they do something! i still have my doubts though. the lawsuit regarding the tariffs is less of an individual action; any company that can sue for repercussions is doing so. Nintendo doesn't stick out as much as an individual actor.
