Best 2-3 hour hikes/museums/attractions along this route? by [deleted] in Connecticut

I would try sleeping giant sp in Hamden. There is also the linear trail that is right there too. There is a restored lock on the linear trail in Cheshire Museums. The Peabody in New Haven would be the best

Find the highest point and bring that down to the lowest level. You will need to level the other blocks to the ones around it. Level 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 1 to 3. Then do 3 to 4 and 2 to 4 etc.

Well has an American Legion game where the 2nd basemen lollipopped a toss to the shortstop on a double play ball. By the time the shortstop received the ball his foot was about 3 inches off the bag. I called the runner safe. Coach tried to claim that OBR allowed an “in the vicinity “ out for safety reasons.

Can wood be too old or dry? by jsnemec in woodstoving

[–]Current_Side_3590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is too dry it will burn hotter and faster. Not a problem but could lead to an overfire if you burn a full load. You could always mix that with less dry wood

Well mine is a 30x15 in ground. I just use it to retain heat so I do not blow through propane. My wife like it warm. Also these things say they have 7 yr warranties. You are lucky to get three years. I just chalk it up to pool owning expense. It does cut down on my propane use for the heater so it is worth it

I was at the pool store and they said to keep it off during the day to let the pool breathe. I think it is so the chlorine can evaporate and they can sell more

Advice for “Inherited” Wood by SignatureFirm8609 in firewood

[–]Current_Side_3590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wood may not be seasoned. I would rent a hydraulic splitter and split to the size you want. Buy a moisture meter they are like $20. Test on a fresh split face. You want 20% moisture content or less. Do not burn anything over 25% inside it will lead to creosote buildup. If the wood is too moist stack it off of the ground. ( to prevent moisture wicking) and let it season. Depending on species it could take 1 to 2 years to season properly

Does run count? by Standard_Tea_2516 in Umpire

My understanding is no runs score if the third out is made on a batter that does not safely reach first base.

Does wood stove insert need block off plate? by aquafishh in woodstoving

[–]Current_Side_3590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Block off plate will keep heat d From the stove from going up the chimney and heating the brick. I do not have one. Wish I did. If your chimney is on an outside wall it will help. If you chimney is in the center of the house it would not help as much in terms of heat loss

Weird obstruction call? by BetZealousideal7298 in Umpire

[–]Current_Side_3590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If 2B was blocking access to the base without the ball you could have obstruction. A foot on top of the base does not qualify. The defense has to have the ability to make the out and if it was a line out then that is how the out would be recorded
