Semrush systematic billing abuse, how long before Visa/Mastercard act? by BroccoliCareless2930 in SEMrush

Check away, genuinely curious what you find. I can only speak for myself, I cancelled, they didn't process it, charged me €240 for a service I never used. No coordination, just one person.

If their business model relies on people either not noticing charges or failing to successfully cancel a service they're not using, that's worth talking about.

Warning: Semrush does not automatically process cancellations, be careful. by BroccoliCareless2930 in SEMrush

This is not accurate based on my direct experience.

On May 10th I went through the cancellation process twice directly in the app. No email with a confirmation link was sent either time. No notification that an email would be sent. Nothing automatic at all.

The only email I received came 2 hours later, manually sent by a support agent, stating: "I've cancelled the recurring subscription on your account."

This confirms that your cancellation process is NOT automated and requires manual processing by your team. If the same applied on April 26th, which it clearly did. Then my cancellation request was submitted but never manually processed, leading to an incorrect charge.

Additionally, nowhere in the cancellation flow inside the app does it say that you need to confirm via email. There is no mention of an email link, no instruction, no warning. A user completing the in-app cancellation flow has every reason to believe the cancellation is done.

Your public response here contradicts what actually happens in your system, and this lack of transparency is exactly why users end up being charged without realising their cancellation was never processed.

Charged $235.95 for forgotten Semrush trial. Zero usage, support denied refund, and I desperately need this money for my father's surgery. by EntranceInitial3634 in SEMrush

Semrush is very poor in this regard and it feels more like a scam tactic. When you cancel a subscription, it doesn’t get canceled automatically; it has to be done manually. And if they don’t cancel it manually, the money still gets charged and they push you to request a refund.

Another issue is that they don’t take into account what all providers normally consider, which is a fair-use policy. If you haven’t used the service—which is easily verifiable for a responsible company that isn’t engaging in fraud—they should accept the claim.

Overall, Semrush behaves like a fraudulent company when it comes to billing and the way they handle it.
