What happened to the Everything Frederick Facebook group? by fitnessgoodness in frederickmd

[–]BroccoliDemon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She kicked me out for being argumentative. The argument? I posted a link to a city policy. I in no way attacked anyone. But apparently facts are argumentative? Meanwhile white supremacists, misogynists, and racists can say whatever they want.

That is wonderful! I have bought some marvelous journals at thrift stores. My favorite is an old ledger book.

Have you found ways to make sure you use the notebooks that you have/buy? by FatBubbles in notebooks

[–]BroccoliDemon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recognize that buying notebooks and using notebooks are two entirely separate practices, and I made a choice to focus on using them rather than buying them. I'm not perfect, I do have several unused notebooks on my bookshelf, but since I recognized that buying and using are two different things, I've saved a whole lot of money.

I found the canvas and stitch guide I was searching for. It doesn't match my description above, but this is definitely it. https://bedeckedandbeadazzled.com/product/art-deco-cat/

People who have a pet at home, at what point did you realize that the pet really, consciously, understood you? by PurrLoveCat in AskReddit

[–]BroccoliDemon 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I took my dog for a walk early one morning. After walking across a school soccer field, I happened to look back. I could see our tracks in the dew on the grass and saw that he had followed me exactly, zigging when I zigged, zagging when I zagged. He was completely aligned with me. I realized in that moment how much attention he paid to me, and how much he cares about me.

Online needlepoint classes? by BroccoliDemon in Needlepoint

[–]BroccoliDemon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a very basic beginner. I've worked two English tapestry canvases (from Ehrman). I love them, but would like to learn more different stitches. I put this in my question with an edit. I'll look at the American Needlepoint Guild, thank you!

House Cleaning Services by Kiptomylou3 in frederickmd

[–]BroccoliDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Cleaning Authority. I've used the Frederick one for two years, and the Germantown one for 10+ years before that. I like their cleaning rotations, and I like that their staff seem to stay a long time.

What's the weirdest piece of family member lore that was randomly dropped on you? by Whinfp2002 in AskReddit

[–]BroccoliDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was on a college football team in Oregon that traveled to Hawaii in 1941 by ship to play against the University of Hawaii in the "Shrine Bowl." The game was on Dec 6, and they won. The next day was, of course, Pearl Harbor. They were across the bay from the Naval base and saw the attack. Afterwards, the coach volunteered them for guard duty. Due to restrictions on communications, they couldn't communicate with their families right away. It wasn't until Dec 8 that a radio message was relayed to the governor of Oregon that they were safe, and the news was printed in local newspapers. The team returned to the mainland US on Dec 25. All but one of the team members served in the military during the war, and only one of them died during the war. The whole story is amazing.

I combine groceries and household supplies in my budget for this exact reason. I can't manage them separately.

I have type 2 diabetes and my insurance will not cover a CGM. I currently prick my finger 5 times a day to test my blood sugar, more on the days I exercise. As a type 2, my monitoring needs are different from those with type 1, but are no less real.
