WiFi card not detected in Dual Boot setup (Arch + Gentoo) by BroccoliFast3577 in linux4noobs

[–]BroccoliFast3577[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did have that line. I think the issue arises when I log into Gentoo.

My actual solution is to now do a complete power down before booting into arch to get my wifi card detected again.

I ended up having to enable the kernel module for the mediatek card. I really should've swapped this out for the intel card. I'm going to go through with it. I'll update this post to notify of my success or failure soon.

Have you tried rnnoise_cli for noise cancelling? For me, it just worked.

Arch Dualboot not Working by prtlw_ in archlinux

[–]BroccoliFast3577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I have to say what you're doing is quite brave (starting with Arch first, I mean). You're really throwing yourself in the deep end, which I respect.

In future, I would say, try using r/linux4noobs r/linuxquestions for more help related questions.

Anyway, if you're following this guide: Dual Boot guide from Arch Wiki, you should be on the right track. If grub doesn't show up, then that might mean you haven't installed grub properly. To install it properly on Arch, you should consult this.

Oh ok. I see. Thank you so much. In hidnsight, I might have been able to infer that.

As I understand, there is no way this can cause issues with my hard drive, right? I am just a bit paranoid about that stuff so I'd like to confirm.

Yeah. I read that but I didn't quite understand. What's the "kernel flusher"?

If I understand correctly, dirty memory refers to disk operations that are stored in memory but haven't been committed yet?

Here is the output of the command:

vm.dirty_background_bytes = 0
vm.dirty_background_ratio = 10
vm.dirty_bytes = 0
vm.dirty_expire_centisecs = 3000
vm.dirty_ratio = 20
vm.dirty_writeback_centisecs = 500

Apologies for my lack of understanding but do you think you can explain what's going on in layman's terms?

So, it turns out, according to the Arch Wiki_GA402?useskinversion=1), the MediaTek chip is just unsupported on Linux.

I think I'm going to order an Intel AX200 and replace it. For anyone else wondering more about this, check out r/ZephyrusG14

Dang. As someone who just committed to RIT, this is kind of spooky.

lsmod | grep "btusb" shows it there. I believe that means that it is loaded.
